The people of Amsterdam suffered from something called exotism, a desire for everything ‘far away’. Turns out there are a ton of hidden churches in Amsterdam . This is definitely one of the coolest museums I’ve been to and would definitely recommend if you are ever around.
In the 1600’s it was prohibited to celebrate mass, so religious practices had to be done in secret. Our Lord in the Attic is a Catholic church hidden away in the attic of one of Amsterdam’s 17th-century canal townhouses. Now, it has been turned into a uniquely preserved museum, better yet – it’s pink! As one of the oldest museums in Amsterdam, second only to the Rijksmuseum, this is one of the unique things to do in Amsterdam.
