Revealing Europe’s best-kept secrets

Sometimes, the best experiences come when you least expect. You’re exploring a new place, map in hand, looking around to choose what to do next, and surprise! You’re glad you bumped into that experience, lying in wait for you all along.

Like our Trip to Central Europe this month. This beautiful region is studded with such hidden gems and moments, and our trip leader Prerna, has quite a few of them to share with you. Read on as she gives us an insider’s look into the cities, choosing her best moments:

1) Prague: The 5-Level Discotheque

There are many things about Prague that fascinated me. The old-world charm. The cafes. Cathedrals that I just can’t find words to describe (like the one above). We spent hours exploring streets and saw people dancing through the night.

But the best part about our stay was the pub-crawl. Partied at the biggest discotheque in the city, which had 5 levels (floors) to it – each playing a different genre of music! We even took part in a table-top dance, which was really fun.

2) Vienna: The Concert That Has It All

The ladies and I went for a concert dedicated to the great composer Strauss. The best part was that it felt like a blend of everything – a bit of opera, ballet and a musical concert. And of course, couldn’t miss out on having a delicious piece of Sacher Torte!

3) Bratislava: The revolving restaurant

This charming little town adds its own charm, with cobbled streets, pretty cafes and a magnificent castle that seems to always loom in the background. But what surprised me was eating at a revolving restaurant. Set high on a TV tower, eating at the Altitude Restaurant, with a view of the entire town was exciting!

4) Budapest: The view that stood out!

To call Budapest beautiful is an understatement. From sitting on the banks of the Danube River and sipping beer to watching the city come alive at night, with bridges lit up in green and yellow, this city is really exciting. But what stood out for me is the view of the entire city from Fishermen’s Bastion – I can’t find words to describe it!

5) Krakow : The Prettiest Town Square

For me, the favourite part of exploring this city was being in the main square. Soaring cathedrals, beautiful church houses, large and pretty! And I could see at least 15 lanes leading to this beautiful square.

These were just a few of the many suggestions from Prerna, who had travelled across this region at the start of June. Intrigued about Central Europe? Want to experience this for yourself?
