If there’s one person known world over for their love for food & travel, it’s Anthony Bourdain. In one of the episodes from his show ‘Parts Known’, Bourdain explores Oman and tells us why the local dish Shuwa should be on everyone’s culinary wishlist:

“Oman’s classic, special-event dish. They do one version or another of this all over the world, but Shuwa is special. They slather a goat with a spicy paste consisting of cumin, coriander, red pepper, cinnamon, cardamom, and nutmeg, then wrap the meat in palm or banana leaves, dig a hole, throw in some meat, cover it up, and leave underground for a day or two over hot coals.”

2) Explore Oman’s Iconic Architecture Like Narendra Modi

Even if you’re in the country for official work, you might want to set aside time to marvel at Oman’s architectural splendours, just like Prime Minister Narendra Modi did. He visited the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, an imposing and glorious piece of architecture with rich Persian carpets and space that can house close to 20,000 worshippers.

The Prime Minister also prayed at the famous 125-year-old Shiva temple in Muscat.

3) Discover Luxury And ‘Me-Time’ Like Kriti Sanon

The popular Indian actress sizzled her way through Oman. We could tell she had a great vacation from her Instagram pictures, enjoying Omani hospitality and luxury in the middle of the desert.

4) Lose Yourself In Omani Souk Trails Like Prince Harry

When Prince Harry was in Oman, he got a chance to explore Muttrah Souq, the traditional Arab bazaar that sells a range of delightful items under its roof, from trinkets and toys to intricately painted lamps.

In fact, he enjoyed exploring the souk so much that he picked up a cuddly camel for his nephew, Prince George, a cashmere scarf and even tried his hand at haggling with the local vendors.

5) Indulge In Water Sports Like Akshay Kumar

If you’re looking to pump up your adrenaline, Oman will not disappoint. A hub for adventure, you’ll have a lot to look forward to, including water sports such as scuba diving, cliff jumping and wind surfing. Even Akshay Kumar agrees with the same.

“I have enjoyed myself thoroughly. I was there for shooting but I thought I was on a vacation. I played a lot of water sports… I feel lot of people should travel there.”

Oman is a great choice for those seeking out the modern face of Arabia while wanting still to sense its ancient soul. So come find it for yourself, as you explore the Sultanate, celebrity-style. Click here to join our upcoming trip to Oman.
