‘Wild’ times at Little Satmar

Spring was lovely here at Little Satmar, the sun was out and we have managed to get lots accomplished ready for the summer season.

Our new bug house is complete and we even decided to build another one for the park so hopefully all the bees, bugs and butterflies will enjoy them.  Thank you to our colleagues from Quex Park for all their help and expert guidance with this project.

To encourage even more wildlife we have allowed small areas of the park to grow a bit wild. It is already working a treat and attracting lots of creatures. The ‘Wild About Gardens Scheme’ is also on our radar this year, having won an award last year for our garden near reception. We have also handed out application forms to some of our holiday home owners to enter.  You still have until the end of the month if you would like to join in, just pop into reception for a form. Good luck everyone!

Easter was busy, helped by the great weather. We held a colouring competition for our younger visitors and we also had a raffle which raised £100 for the RNLI and the Air Ambulance.

If you are visiting us with youngsters this summer we have plenty of activity books and Nature Detective activity sheets to keep them entertained. So if they (or even you) fancy going on a minibeast hunt or creating flower crowns please come and see us in reception.

There are several things worth popping along to in the Village over the next few months if you are here:

The Capel-le-Ferne Gardeners Association Summer show is on 13th July in the village hall.  It opens to the public at 2.30pm.

On Saturday 20thJuly it’s the Capel village fete, including Capel Bake Off 2019.

And always worth a visit is the Tuesday farmers market, 10am – 12.30pm, in the village hall.

The Battle of Britain Memorial makes a great day out, especially during one of their special events.  They also have a cafe and shop on site to visit. Their website has full details of events taking place this summer.

A little further away in Hawkinge is the Kent Battle of Britain Museum. Again, take a look at their website for details of all events taking place; including vintage weekends, 100th Anniversary of the RAF and book launches.

For food and entertainment why not take a trip to Folkestone Harbour Arm. They even have an outdoor cinema. All details can be found here.

We look forward to welcoming you to Little Satmar soon!
