Bee Workshop at Quex Holiday Park

On a glorious day in May we were pleased to be able to host a ‘Bee Workshop’ at Quex Holiday Park in Birchington, attended by our own staff and members of the Kent Wildlife Trust.

We were given a fascinating insight into the various species of solitary bees, their habits, the plants which they pollinate and how and where they chose to build their nests, together with useful information on how to make a solitary bee home.

In the classroom we received a first rate presentation from Bex Cartwright – Conservation Officer with the Bumble Bee Conservation Trust and we would like to thank her for sharing her wealth of knowledge on the subject but also for making the day good fun.

Following the presentation under Bex’s supervision we were able to spend some time around the park capturing specimens and examining them at close quarters through eye glasses – a real treat to see these amazing creatures in such detail – all specimens safely released of course!
