Wow! What a great summer at Hawthorn Farm!

Now autumn (or even winter it feels like some days!) is upon us we look back over the 2018 season, remembering some enjoyable times.

The camping areas on our park have provided great open spaces for all, including several large groups and rallies. The largest being the 90 or so unforgettable Screwball Rally car crews who met up here for the start of their annual European trip in September. We have also been very happy to host several groups of well behaved students; many from local schools, taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, well done everyone!

We always have a wide range of camping vehicles come to stay and this year was no exception. The Hawthorn team noticed an increase in the popularity of easy to put up tents this summer. I wonder what next year will bring!

Holiday home owners have continued to support our participation in the David Bellamy Conservation Scheme by planting bee friendly, pollen rich plants in their own gardens. We are delighted that we have had some worthy award winners from the 2018 Wild about Gardens Scheme run by the Kent Wildlife Trust. For the chance to participate next year, holiday home owners can register at reception in early spring. The Hawthorn team will continue to add to our garden features and hope that our new flowers will survive the resident rabbit population! A nature table in reception, featuring some local handicrafts, was well received by visitors this summer. As well as looking attractive it has also raised some funds for our charity groups, so we intend to continue this idea with new offerings next season.

Recycling also continues to be an important issue and we would like to encourage all visitors to make good use of our recycling facilities for glass, plastics and cardboard. All these aspects contribute to the parks assessment for the David Bellamy Awards and we are really pleased to announce that we have achieved Gold again this year. Thank you all for your participation.

Now, the quiet season will be spent maintaining and improving the park facilities and grounds. We will however, remain open for touring vehicles throughout the autumn and winter months, weather permitting. Reservations (particularly for hard standing pitches or evening arrivals) are recommended and can be made via our website. Next years dates are now available.
