Where to make the most of the heatwave in Kent

The UK Heatwave is set to continue this week with ‘lots of hot, dry, sunny weather’ and temperatures between the mid-20s and 30s in some places. It looks like we are set for a hot July and fingers crossed, the whole summer! With weather hotter than the Mediterranean in some places, staycation this summer and visit some of the amazing beaches Kent has to offer.

There is a huge variety of beaches in Kent offering a great mix of sandy and pebble, and with this weather you may even feel like you’re abroad on some! You can also enjoy a wealth of restaurants, cafes, amusements and activities at each location, or simply grab some fish and chips and a Mr Whippy and relax.

Margate Main Sands beach offers everything you could want in a traditional British seafront. There is a tidal pool, amusements and activities, plus some great restaurants and ice-cream parlours along the beach.

Other sandy beaches in Thanet include Botany Bay, Viking Bay, and Joss Bay, as well as plenty more with a total of 15 stretching along the coastline from Pegwell Bay to Minnis Bay. Discover them all here.

Whitstable to Herne Bay offers a coastline decorated with multi coloured beach huts, quintessentially British seaside cafés and fish and chip shops, and pebbled beaches, perfect for crabbing or just paddling in the sea.

Whilst you are enjoying your BBQ’s, picnics and making the most of this great weather, do make sure you keep hydrated and apply plenty of sun cream to avoid burning.

How have you been making the most of the heatwave so far? Please share your pictures with us, whether it’s enjoying a Mr Whippy down Herne Bay seafront or watching the sunset at Viking Bay, we would love to see!
