Staying active during the summer holidays

Staying active and keeping your children engaged is one of the most important things this Summer Holidays, but most importantly, make it fun! In a world largely dominated by technology, social media and infinite apps, it is so easy for the younger generation to get lost in a phone or tablet. Whilst a few games here and there is fine, try and involve your children in as much physical activity as possible.

Here in Kent we are lucky enough to have the perfect setting for activities right on your doorstep. With a wealth of beaches, rock pools, free and open green space, country parks and rolling countryside landscape, there is plenty to do.

Cycle or Walk

There are plenty of cycle routes and walking trails in Kent. Walk along the beautiful coastal North Downs starting at the White Cliffs on the South Foreland Lighthouse Walk or grab your bike and cycle the Isle of Thanet on the Viking trail, visiting Kentish villages and picturesque beaches such as Joss Bay. Get the family together, pack a picnic and set out on an adventure!

Take the dog for a walk

With so many green public spaces, make it your goal to go for a dog walk every day, even if it’s just 30 minutes around your local park. If you don’t have a dog to walk, make it a goal to go for a daily walk anyway. Children like to have a challenge and a goal, so you can make it fun!

Have your own sports day

Get together with friends or family and create your own sports day or play rounders in the park. This gets everyone involved and a great combination of fun and exercise.

Get out on the water

We have the Kentish coastline if you want to go for a paddle or crabbing, as well as the River Stour if you fancy going punting.
