Our Quirimbas Archipelago mobile island hopping kayak safaris are led by pro guides, Wilfred and Causemore Dzevene. Wilfred and Causemore are highly competent, capable and knowledgeable guides who have been living and operating in the region for years, offering a passionate insight into the Quirimbas and our Mozambique tours.

WILFRED

Wilfred has been with us for many years and originally hails from Zimbabwe. You will find his wonderful sense of humour delightful and his knowledge of the Quirimbas will leave no question unanswered! He started working as a guide in 1997 after acquiring my guide’s licence from Mguza Private Technical college of Lifestyle, Tours and Safaris. Trained in rifle shooting with the National Parks of Zimbabwe. He is also currently in training with PADI for his Dive Master and rescue certificate. Both Wilfred and Causemore are professional guides, phenomenal kayak paddlers, and all round wonderful human beings. They have an intimate knowledge of the Quirimbas National Park and its surrounds and a real passion for Ibo. You are in great company and in good hands.

CAUSEMORE DZEVENE

Causemore, or Cosmos as he is known to us, was introduced into the guiding industry by his German Science Teacher in 1996, as she used to take his class camping on weekends. His first job was at Tsoro River Safaris, where he started training as a guide in April 1997 and passed his Learner Professional Guide Licence in 1999. His training covered tracking, birding, first aid, fire arms, habits and habitants, law, tourism act, guest acquaints, principals of guiding, camp management principals, survival and rescue and basic astronomy.

Cosmos passed his Canoe Theory in 2000, and got his shooting licence in 2005, becoming a full-time guide in 2006. He particularly enjoys mentoring younger guides and imparting his skills to the broader Ibo Island Lodge team.

Both Harris and Cosmos are professional guides and phenomenal kayak instructors, possessing an intimate knowledge of the Quirimbas National Park and its surrounds. You will be in great company and in good hands.
