France

Explore France

France is a vibrant and diverse country and has long been one of the most powerful countries in Europe. Leading to grand palaces and memorials interspersed throughout the landscape with small farmland, vineyards, and wild mountains covered in forests.  No matter what type of vacation or holiday you’re looking to have, chances are you can plan to have it in France.

What To See & Do

You can spend a whole week in Paris without seeing everything it has to offer. The Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, the Arc de Triomphe—but there are so many other places to discover in this magnificent country.  If you prefer big cities, be sure to visit Nice, Chambord, and Aix-en-Provence.  Each of France’s major cities is infused with its local culture and history, and the stunning architecture of the various palaces and museums you’ll find in them is not to be missed.

Do you prefer more adventure? You can plan your trip to the Pyrenees mountains that create a natural border between France and Spain.  There are fantastic outdoor activities and interesting towns to discover in the foothills.

What To Eat

French cooking is famous around the world, and their techniques are considered “haute cuisine” in many other countries.  You’ll never have it better than you will in its birthplace.  Rich and subtle flavorings bring local ingredients to life.  A real meal often comes in several courses, so plan for lots of time to enjoy yourself in good company.  You’ll be in luck if your meal comes with a cheese course as French artisanal cheeses are in high demand all over the world.  Finish it off with a classic French dessert—and don’t forget the wine.  French wine was, for hundreds of years, considered the standard all wine should live up to, and that long and fantastic history can be tasted in every glass.

Getting Around

It’s easy to do most of your traveling by train.  France has a widespread rail system (the second-largest in Europe!) that will get you from Paris to Avignon or Bordeaux in a matter of hours.  Public transportation opportunities will vary by destination city or town, but many have public buses available, and Paris has a thriving underground metro system.

Entry Requirements

EU nationals may travel freely to France.  We recommend that you bring your passport or ID card, but you may never need to show it.  For travelers from outside the EU/Schengen area, you may be exempt from any visa requirements provided your stay is less than 90 days.  Check this website to see if your country is on the list of visa-exempt countries:
