The NutCracker Ballet

Travel has plenty of meanings and consists of numerous stops, shorter or longer. When you are 50+ those stops may be longer rather than shorter for different reasons. One of those is  to explore. Dark and cold December evenings are the best exuse to look for a variety of indoor activities in Krakow. Diversity is probably the best word to recapitulate the wealth of cultural events happenning in Krakow. This time our choice was…..

Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker –  one of the world’s most popular classical ballets, performed in Krakowska Opera. It was an excellent choice. The story of a girl whom her Christmas present, a toy (title Nutcracker) takes her on a journey through a fairyland of wonders where anything is possible… We were guided  through the magical world of Love, Dance and Journey.

So relevent at this festive time of the year. Also relevent with travelling the world in search of new cultural sensations and experiences.

The actual production has been created by Emil Wesolowski, a prominent Polish choreographer, with ties to the Grand Theatre – National Opera in Warsaw for the past 30 years as a dancer. The head of the ballet company and the director of stage productions. A unique feature of this production is the engagement of a live orchestra to accompany the ballet dancers. The dance performance can be equally enjoyed by children and adults. And we, as 50+ adults,  enjoyed it very much. The Nutcracker – highly recommmended wherever you are in the world.

PS…. The price of a ticket 80zl.  We tried the Krakowska Opera website first, but all the seats were taken – so we decided to check on the spot.  Fortunatley,  3 seats had been released – so we got our tickets! We live a stone’s throw from the Opera House so we were able to do this. Location, location, location.
