A Bonnaroo 2015 Playlist

I’ll make this post short and sweet because, well, curating the Playlist took about as long as it takes to get to King’s Landing from Winterfell…although it was probably a more satisfying experience. This coming June, Wes and I will be gallivanting down to Manchester, Tennessee to take on Bonnaroo with some of our favorite creatures. And although Wes can consider himself a veteran of the Farm, this will be my inaugural visit. Like all fests before it, there is a lingering giddiness as we enter the month before trip commencement that was only amplified by a proposition fellow 2015 attendee Megan suggested to me the other day: DUDE, where is the ‘Roo playlist?!? And if a girl wishes for a customized Bonnaroo playlist, a girl gets what she wants. That was in a Jaqen H’ghar voice. Editor’s Note: Thrones is on in the background as I type this.

Since I’ve been noticeably slacking in the blog space lately, I thought it was a great opportunity to put together something for all of my friends attending and the rest of the interwebs if they so happen to stumble upon this place. So I went to the Bonnaroo site, opened up the schedule, and chose one track–a personal favorite or a crowd pleaser–from every individual artist. The mix is in a particular order, somewhat: Appearance, from Thursday – Sunday, since I went by daily schedule starting from Day 1.

Personally, a few acts I’m looking forward to see for the first time: Jamie XX and his danceable wonkiness, Caribou’s repertoire of electronic diversity, Run the Jewels and their high-octane hip hop, Mac Demarco’s goofy, off-kilter approach to rock, the beat making mastery of Flying Lotus, the idiosyncratic flow of Shabazz Palaces, and HBO’s Game of Thrones, Season 5, Episode 7 in the Cinema Tent…

I’m also happily welcoming back the chance to see a few faves–particularly the engulfing bliss of ODESZA’s melodies, SBTRKT’s assorted electronic catalog, and the pipes on Brittany Howard of the Alabama Shakes–once again.

My only qualm? Maybe not enough house and techno. Fear not, however– if you stop at our camp, I’m sure we’ll have that covered. Hope to see everybody down at the Farm!
