I haven’t participated in a Travel Photo Roulette for a while, but I wanted to participate in this week’s theme Paradise. This week’s theme is being hosted by Rachel of Rachel’s Ruminations. While I can only enter one photo for the contest I wanted to put a few more photos up here of what I consider to be paradise.
Paradise often brings up the image of beaches and warm weather, but like finding paradise wherever I go. I love visiting parks in the middle of cities. This is from Suomenlinna Fortress, an island fortress just outside of Helsinki. While this UNESCO world heritage site was pretty busy with tourists when I was there, I didn’t have to go too far to find a quiet and beautiful spot for myself.
Paradise in Madrid is food, like this plate of Huevos Rotos (it’s basically French Fries topped with fried egg and Iberico ham). Yum.
As a theatre nerd I have to say anytime I can see a live show I am in paradise, especially if it’s a Tony Award Winning production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch in New York City.
New Orleans to me was paradise. It combined some of my favourite activities eating a lot of delicious food, and then walking around, snapping photos and taking in the vibe of this unique city.
Anytime I can get anywhere close to the ocean is paradise for this landlocked girl. This is a photo I took last summer in Vancouver. The mountain and sea views in this city are always amazing.
One thing that always says paradise to me is the open road. I love road trips and I’ve been known to get in my car and just drive to drive. This photo was taken in Northern Ontario when I was doing a solo road trip across Canada in 2013.
