Here’s a first event that’s already started. March 27th 2016 marked the beginning of the greatest religion festival in the Algarve, the Sovereign Mother Festival. This event which is scheduled to end on April 10th takes place in Loule and attracts hundreds of pilgrims from Portugal and all around the world. There is a large procession that everybody is invited to, all the way to the sanctuary.

If you enjoy rugby, make haste, because the Algarve Rugby Festival is just about to begin. Held between the 2nd and the 3rd of April 2016, it promises much entertainment for the fans of the sport.

For two days (9th and 10th of April 2016), you can be the stars of a free event: the Alcoutim Walking Festival. There are eight hikes to talk about, every single one focusing on one aspect: birdwatching (a very popular activity in the Algarve, by the way), hiking outdoors to observe nature, discovering the local products, etc. You are welcome to join if you are the “outdoorsy” type.

April 25th is cause for celebration in the entire Portugal, as Liberation Day brings fireworks, music, merriment and outdoors events throughout the country. How could the Algarve have not been part of this grand event?
