The Algarve has often been regarded (and crowned) as the leading worldwide golf destination. With over 300 days of sunshine, mild, warm weather and the most scenic landscapes, the Algarve hosts the most prestigious golf championships and features the best Golf Courses with lush green grass and silky dunes, challenging slopes and beautiful natural settings. A first-class seaside destination, sunbathing on the rocky beaches and swimming in the cool ocean are not the only reasons thousands of people flood the southern part of Portugal every year. Golf is a prime reason as well.

The Algarve offers some 40 world-class golf courses. Among the highest rated, San Lorenzo, Peninha, Millennium Vilamoura and Oceanico Victoria hold the first positions, though that may be a bit of a subjective outlook. Let’s just say the options are infinite and the golfing conditions are exceptional.

Portugal is also a relatively accessible destination, especially since many of the golfers who come to play here come from the rich Northern European countries or from the United States of America. Finding elegant, even luxurious lodgings for comparatively low rates is a possibility here.
