Halal Restaurant Week Korea 2017

Travelling to a different country is always an exciting event to look forward to. With various must-do’s and visits lined up, a completely different culture in store, and a change of weather ready to greet you, your time away will be full of exciting moments and memorable memories. Another part of your holiday which many look forward to, especially food lovers, is having the opportunity to enjoy new cuisines and try out Halal dishes you may not find locally.

One specific country is celebrating halal food throughout the months of September and October. Halal Restaurant Week Korea is an annual event Korea proudly boasts. Inviting both Muslim and non-Muslim travellers to visit their 100 + restaurants taking part in the event, travellers can enjoy visiting various restaurants scattered throughout Korea giving them the chance to indulge in must-try dishes while also enjoying the various different sceneries.

Halal Restaurant Week Korea takes place over 61 days starting from September 1st and ending on October 31st. This two-month long event hosted by the Korea Tourism Organization is currently holding its second event after a successful response last 2016. Promoting Muslim-friendly restaurants and encouraging Muslim families and travellers to come and enjoy all that Korea has to offer, the Korea Tourism Organization is hoping for another successful year full of satisfied tourists and guests.

The two-month celebration will give those visiting the opportunity to experience Korean halal food as well as other dishes and cuisines from countries such as Turkey, China and Italy. With more than 100 restaurants to choose from, a range of different halal friendly cuisines, plus great coupons and discounts, Halal Restaurant Week Korea is the perfect place to be if you’re looking for the best halal dining options.

To make things easier for guests and to reassure them they are eating at one of the participating restaurants, the organization has put together four Muslim-friendly restaurant categories. Each participating restaurant will fall under one of these four types of categories which have satisfied the Korean Tourism Organization standards. Since 2016, Korean Tourism Organization has classified Muslim-friendly restaurants to reassure Muslim travellers who are concerned about food.

The four categories to look out for are:

  • Halal Certified: Restaurants certified by an accredited halal certification agency such as Korea Muslim Federation (KMF).
  • Self Certified: All food is halal. Restaurants are certified as halal by Muslim restaurant owners themselves.
  • Muslim Friendly: Some halal dishes are provided. Alcohol may be sold.
  • Pork Free: Restaurants that do not offer halal menu but do not use pork. Alcohol may be sold.

Those planning on participating in the annual event can check out the different restaurants taking part beforehand by visiting the events website page and heading to the list of participating restaurants. With so much food involved and being set in such a stunning destination, Korea’s Halal Restaurant Week is definitely something you won’t want to miss out on. Treat yourself and your family or friends to a holiday in a country you’ll feel right at home in, and forget about having to hunt down the best halal restaurants as it’s all been done for you.
