Holidays: Less is more

We’ve all heard the term, less is more, but what does it mean when it comes to holidays? Many people try to cram in as much as they can when they’re on Holiday. From planning to see a ton of sites and participating in an amount of activities, sometime over planning can become a little bit too much leaving some disappointed or rather stressed out trying to get everything done. Your holiday should be about relaxing and having fun. While we all want to make the most of it, sometimes it’s best to take a step back and look at things practically.

Depending on the duration of your stay, getting as many things done as you planned on might not be a reality. The said amount of days you have should include the right balance of relaxing, resting, and exploring. Remember, you’ll be tired from your travels, maybe even jetlagged, so a trip to the city or an adventurous afternoon may not be the best option for your first day in your holiday destination. Again, while this all depends on how long you’ve got to enjoy your holiday, make sure you get enough relaxation time inserted in your plans. No one wants to go home more tired than they were before arriving, making it important you take things one step,

One way of accomplishing this is by producing a to-do list with all the things you hope you get round to doing, however make sure you highlight the certain activities or destinations that are more important. This way you can work through your list by accomplishing your top choices, and if time permits, you can then work through your other items. If you cram too many things into a day you’ll likely end up being left disappointed due to not getting around to actually doing what you wanted, or you’ll feel pressured to hurry up and spend less time on things you hoped on taking your time with.

If this happens then you’ll likely start to stress out and feel pressured, something no one should be feeling while enjoying a holiday, hence the term ‘less is more’. You don’t have to do every single thing you’ve researched or have heard about, but focusing on the things that matter the most to you and your company should be your priority. Make sure you leave enough time to actually sit back and relax, enjoy a few delicious meals at nice restaurants, or simply lounge around on the beach or in the hotel. Most of the time those travelling abroad will book a comfortable hotel that will have lots to offer; remember, staying at a hotel in a foreign country with room service available and beach and pool access can be just as exciting and relaxing as going around the streets and exploring what there is to see.

Try to create the right balance of relaxing and leisure. Plan out a few days where you’ll get to explore the environment and the various landmarks and sceneries of your host country, while also planning out a few days simply relaxing and spending the more luxurious side of your holiday. Going home well rested yet still full of unbelievable memories is the ultimate way to say you had a good holiday, rather than coming home tired, restless, and rather anxious to just get in bed, you want to be refreshed and ready to go back to your normal routine.
