Yummy Parathas in Punjab

Recently I got a chance to do a trip to Punjab (thinking of punjabi parathas) due to office work and I was going to be in couple of cities like Amritsar as well as Jalandhar. Now if you are in Punjab then its a must to eat yummy Parathas of Punjab. I was not sure whether I would really get the opportunity to eat lovely yummy paratha. Even if I do get a chance its not guaranteed that you will get that authentic taste.

Yummy Punjabi Parathas with Curd

Authentic Punjabi Parathas at typical Dhaba:

I guess its was time for delight! On our way from Amritsar to Jalandhar we requested our cab driver to stop on any place where we can eat decent parathas if possible. In the next 5 minutes he pulls over at a nice highway dhaba (restaurant on highway). With all hopes we looked at the menu and there it was! we found the parathas in the menu. We immediately agreed to order for couple of them with curd and one plate of pakodas. Trust me never in my life have I eaten such tasty as well as yummy parathas. It was a delight to be able to eat the real authentic parathas of Punjab. BTW for health conscious minds its a bad news because everything in Punjab is generally consumed along with curd or lassi (drink made from curd) or butter. So as expected, The paratha options in menu were all by default with butter. No option for without butter

Yummy Punjabi Parathas

These parathas that I had were seriously tasty. I have never ever seen such thick and heavy parathas in my life. I have eaten a lot of parathas in the regular metro cities like mumbai, delhi, banglore, surat etc however nothing compare to parathas in Punjab. The best part is they are damn cheap. Each parathas were priced at about 30-35 rupees (about half a dollar or 1/3rd of a pound). What else do you want?

Yummy Pakoras

I always heard about original Punjabi parathas but never ever imagined that it would be such a huge difference in size, shape and taste as compare to the regular parathas. I would say one must definitely have the road side parathas if you are in Punjab, there is no experience like it. Also forgot to mention, the pakodas were awesome too. It was a bonus breakfast for us, we could have not asked for anything better then having such a wonderful break on the journey. Each minute spent for this break was invaluable. Hope you enjoyed this post and signing off with the wish that all of us get to eat such nice punjabi parathas again sometime..
