Mary Valley Rattler

We have always loved Gympie – well I have. Not sure why considering it’s not near water nor is it the Sunshine Coast, which is where we can’t wait to visit asap!

But for some reason the hills of Gympie is always calling me. I used to joke that conisidering how much we broke down in that area with our cars {over the years we used to have travel from our house near Woodford to Bundaberg , going through Gympie} that we should move there.

Dave and I have always wanted to visit Mary Valley Rattler but never got around to it. With so much going on with being stuck because of the virus {this was way back when we were in lock down} I realised that as soon as travel was an option that we would be making sure we visited Mary Vallery Rattler to experience the crazy fun train ride.

As soon as restrictions have lifted, and I seen on a facebook post about a deal where adults were allowed to travel at kids prices, I booked our tickets asap. This was back in July School Holidays, and I haven’t even posted our visit till now.

Mary Valley Rattler :

SUCH AMAZING COUNTRYSIDE
KYLE LOVED EVERY MINUTE ON THE BUMPY TRAIN RIDE
LOVE THIS OLD STYLE TRAIN
CROSSING OVER A RIVER
THE VIEWS ON EACH SIDE WELL WORTH THE TRAIN RIDE
THE COW PROPERTIES WERE SO GREEN
LOVE THIS PROPERTY
IT WAS SO DRY WHERE THERE WAS NO RAIN
SUCH BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY
HE LOVED EVERY SINGLE MOMENT ON THE TRAIN

The best part of the Mary Valley Rattler Train ride was stopping at the end of the line to get off for a break – having a coffee and snack from the corner store across the road from the train station. Watching Kyle face enjoying the very bumpy ride, looking at the surrounding hills/countryside, and chatting to the very friendly Train staff members who walk through each carriage.

He sat down and had a chat with all of his previous jobs/travels/adventures and it was fasciating to listen to his life stories.

We are so glad we got to cross Mary Valley Rattler Train Ride off our Bucket List. It was worth going down for the day trip and we loved watching the train turn around on the train turntable when we stopped for a coffee break. The carriage we were on was the bumpiest one according to the staff on the train, and it was funny that Kyle was worried about how it swayed from side to side.

I even looked up properties to rent/buy in the area of where we stopped for our coffee break because it was so beautiful.

Have You Been On The Mary Valley Rattler Train Ride?

We highly recommend it if you are close enough for a visit.

Check out this train that was off to the side….

THR TRAIN THAT WASN’T IN USE AT THE TIME

Have You Been To Gympie? We went to the Museum after the train ride, which I will share soon!

Cheers

Lisa
