Kilkivan Bush Camping And Caravan Park

We have been to Kilkivan Bush Camping And Caravan Park a few years back {must find the pics from that trip and share them here on New Life on the Road – now shared with a blog post Kilkivan Bush Camping Ground} and I have always wanted to go back. It was the best over night camping spot we had ever stayed at, I don’t know what it is but it made me feel amazing and we only stayed for one night.

I kept asking David when can we return and life happens, and we had so many other amazing places to visit, and so many other amazing trips that we never seemed to be able to line up our travel plans to stop in for another stay.

So I thought about Easter. Actually one of our sons thought about Easter. And when he said “Please can we go camping for Easter” I automatically thought of one place, and before I knew it I was booking Kilkivan Bush Camping and Caravan Park.

We asked our good friends to come with us, cause our boys love their boys, and I love their Mum {Dave gets along with their Dad but I am not sure if its friendship or bromance!!!} But they were busy.

So we paid our booking fee, loaded up our kids, took way too much food, way too many clothes, loaded up the back of our new car, and the camper trailer and took off early as we could……

hoping that we would get stuck there! We all hoped that it rained and we couldn’t leave for another few days – yep not one of us wanted to leave!

Kilkivan Bush Camping And Caravan Park – Kids Friendly, Dog Friendly.

Oh so Kid Friendly – they have Free Pancakes Saturday Morning.

They have a jumping castle.

GREAT JUMPING CASTLE AT KILKIVAN BUSH CAMP

They have more than one playground.

ONE OF THE PLAYGROUNDS – SO KID FRIENDLY WITH SO MUCH TO DO

They have a swimming hole {when it rains}

They have activities set up for the Easter weekend – Colour Fun Run, Easter Egg Hunt, Art and Craft Activities, Water Balloon Fights and even live bands at night time.

WOOD YOU WALK ON THIS BRIDGE?

Nope, I wasn’t game enough to walk over the log bridge, but so many people did! It was so super cool – reminded me of the time one of our oldest son’s built a bridge at a caravan park up north – so they could walk over the small water catchment that we had next to our motorhome.

Oh they also have a Bush Bar where you can buy food and drinks from – catering for dinner at night time must be pre-ordered so that they have enough food for everyone.

They also have fire pits at each campsite – yep we had a great time around the fire as a family.

Best part was playing Uno card games – best $7.00 I have ever spent from Kmart was a set of UNO cards!

But the only thing that I should have thought about – taking our Portable Toilet with us. As there was only one Toilet Block {and porta loos scattered throughout the place} with only four toilets/four showers it was tricky sometimes to get a toilet!

And a huge walk to the toilet – well its not really but when its night time and you are busting it seems like you are walking forever!

Yeah next time we are going more prepared with our own toilet and shower. Next time we hope to stay at least a week!

Or maybe even more!

THE CHIMNEY THAT WE HAVE A STORY TO TELL YOU ALL ABOUT!

THE HISTORY BEHIND THE CHIMNEY – MOUNT CLARA SMELTER

Oh my gosh do we have a story to tell you about this history site!! But I will share that in our next blog post about our first stay at Kilkivan Bush Camping and Caravan Park.

OUR CAMPING SET UP WITH MINUS SOME OF OUR STUFF AS THEY HAD PACKED IT UP BEFORE WE WOKE UP IN THE MORNING

Doesnt matter how you roll around Australia, or how you travel, or when you travel, or who you travel with – what matters is getting out there! And exploring. And escaping. And adventure. And quality time. And Family. And connecting with real people offline. Its all about what works for you and your family.  Just get out there and find places so magical that you will want to return to it again and again – thats the beauty of Australia!

So yep we got to cross off our bucket list with another wonderful fun family filled weekend camping at Kilkivan Bush Camping And Caravan Park. We don’t know when we will be back there, but we can’t wait for that day. Until then we have another bucket list adventure coming up!

I have found all of my pictures from many of our other amazing trips so I am going to start sharing those as soon as I can.
