Paradise of the Wild

Sri Lanka has a rich and exotic variety of wildlife and a long tradition of conservation rooted in its 2,230 year old Buddhist civilization.
The animals to be seen in Sri Lanka's national parks include elephants, leopard, sloth bear, sambhur, deer, monkeys, wild buffaloes, wild boar, porcupine, ant-eater, civet cat, reptiles and amphibians among the many other animals found in the parks.
By far the most accessible is the Yala National Park. It is situated in the southern province off Kataragama.

The National Parks of Sri Lanka are managed by the Department of Wild Life and Conservation. national parks are a bit different from wild life sanctuaries which allow free movements. You need to obtain permission and a guide provided by the park. You are not supposed to get out from the vehicle under any circumstances. You need to drive a 4WD vehicle and stay only in specified roads.
Sri Lanka's 14 National Parks are supervised by the Department of wild life and conservation.
The ideal way of experiencing wildlife is by visiting places like Sinharaja Rainforest Reserve, Hortan Plains, Bundala National Park, Wilpattu National Park and more.

Wildlife tours can be arranged in various parks here.

You can also book your wildlife adventure hotels here.
