Cast iron buildings.
As I had mentioned previously, I visited the New Yorker neighborhood which inspired Palermo Soho recently and I’m uploading some photos here. By the way, did you know that SoHo has the greatest collection of cast iron structures in the world? Approximately 250 cast iron buildings stand in New York City and the majority of them are in this neighborhood. Cast iron was initially used as a decorative front over a pre-existing building. And even though it has nothing to do with the architecture of Palermo Viejo, it was the spirit of this artistic area that inspired local artists and independent designers to settle down in Palermo Viejo and transform it into “Palermo Soho”. Como mencioné previamente, visité el barrio neoyorquino que inspiró a Palermo Soho recientemente y aquí estoy subiendo algunas fotos. Y a propósito, ¿sabían que el Soho de Manhattan alberga la mayor cantidad de edificios de hierro fundido del mundo? Existen aproximadamente 250 con estas características en New York y la mayoría está en el Soho. Al principio, se lo utilizaba como decoración sobre una construcción ya existente. Y aunque esto no tenga nada que ver con el estilo de la arquitectura de Palermo Soho, fue su espíritu artístico lo que inspiró a diseñadores independientes y artistas a instalarse en Palermo Viejo y convertirlo en el “Soho Porteño”. Algunas similitudes: lofts, galpones reciclados transformados en galerías, tiendas pequeñas con estandartes y años después, la llegada de las grandes marcas. Vocês sabiam que o Soho de New York tem a maior coleção de edifícios com estrutura de ferro do mundo? São perto de 250 e a maioria fica no Soho. No começo, esta estética era usada como decoração sobre prédios já existentes. E mesmo que o estilo arquitetônico não tenha nada a ver com o Palermo Soho, foi o espíritu artístico do bairro o que influenciou designers e artistas daqui a se instalar em Palermo Viejo e converti-lo no Soho Portenho. Comme je l’ai mentionné avant, j’ai visité le quartier de Manhattan qui a inspiré Palermo Soho et voici quelques photos. Saviez-vous que le Soho a la plus grande collection de structures en fer dans le monde? Environ 250 bâtiments en fer stand à New York et la majorité d'entre eux sont dans ce quartier. La fonte a été utilisée initialement comme un front de décoration sur un bâtiment préexistant. Et même si elle n'a rien à voir avec l'architecture de Palermo Viejo, c'était l'esprit d'un quartier artistique qui a inspiré des artistes et créateurs indépendants argentins de s'installer à Palermo Viejo et le convertir en Palermo Soho.
