Would you Fly with Pete Weber?

Who is Pete Weber?

Pete Weber is the oldest living active pilot. You will not find him behind the controls of a commercial airline but that does not mean that Pete Weber does not take to the skies. On March 30th of 2015, Pete became the official oldest pilot according to Guiness World Records, he was at the young age of 95 years and 143 days.

70 Years in Flight

Weber has more than 70 years in flight

This is how many years Pete Weber has racked up as a pilot. He has flown up to 37 different 20 aircraft in this time. Approximately half of these aircraft were military aircraft and the others were civilian aircraft.

Wedding Day Flying Mishaps

Pete has such a great love for flying that it did not stop him from flying aerobatics on the day of his wedding in 1943. Things did not go as planned when the engine failed with Pete and his plane inverted at the top of a loop. This meant an emergency landing in a corn field. The near brush with death meant that Pete was 4 hours late to his wedding day.

You probably will not find yourself on a flight being piloted by Pete any time soon, this is not to say that he is not perfectly competent. Strict federal aviation policies govern the age and competency levels of pilots on commercial flights.

The Lesson

Pete Weber said that the reason he has been able to keep up his flying is because of his sheer love for flying. He also has an important life lesson an and that is that if you stop doing something it is a lot harder to go back to it, so keep at it.

The Question

Now here comes the big question. Would you fly in a plane piloted by Pete Weber?
