Where is the best Roast Duck in Kuala Lumpur? According to my parents, this is the best roast duck in Kuala Lumpur and the name is Restoran BBQ Kong Meng. This roast duck restaurant has been around for decades and it is one of the hidden gem in KL. Blogged it a few times in the past and the first was time was 15 years ago!
The restaurant is located at 11, Lorong Bunga Melati 2a, Taman Maju Jaya, it is somewhere in between Pandan Indah and Taman Shamelin. I used to stay around this area when I was a kid. My parents bought their first home, a low cost house nearby. I have many great memories around this neighbourhood.
They opened at 11 am until 3pm daily except Wednesdays. We went there around 11.10 am and there were already a few tables occupied. By 11.30 am, the restaurant was packed before even lunch time at noon.
Why this is the best roast duck in Kuala Lumpur? The unique part of this restaurant is they re-heat the duck before they cut and served to you. Every duck they served will be heated and then cut by the chef and served to you.
For that reason, you get extra crispy roast duck than the rest. Of course, it won’t be that crispy if you order thru delivery but I heard they did very well during pandemic.

The roast duck here comes with extra crispy skin, tender meat and you will come for more. The duck taste is not gamey and you will love the crispy skin.
They added the sauce onto the duck so the taste is more flavourful. This is why they have many loyal customers from every corner of Klang Valley visiting them every day.
Oyster mushroom is another popular dish. The taste is flavourful and complement well with white rice.
Chili squid is nicely done. It comes with generous amount of cili padi and the spiciness kicks in on the first bite. I am not a big fan of spicy food but I enjoyed this very well especially with rice, a must order.
Char siew for me is above average as I prefer the sweeter caramelised type. I prefer char siew with more fat and this one is the leaner version.
Siew yuk is pretty good as it comes with crispy skin and it goes well with their homemade chili sauce.
Sambal kang kung
The total bill comes to RM 280 including drinks for 10 people for lunch. I think the pricing is pretty decent considering food is no longer cheap in KL. If you divide it with 10 people, one person paying RM 28 for all of the food, I think the price is not too bad. Is this the best roast duck in KL? For me, I will think that there are also similar roast duck places like Sun Ming Kee in Cheras and the upcoming Traveling Duck franchise. What do you think?
