I asked Transport Minister Anthony Loke to Spot Check KLIA Aerotrain and He Showed Up!

I asked Transport Minister Anthony Loke to Spot Check KLIA Aerotrain and He Showed Up!

First of all, I am not sure if this is coincidence or not but this is what happened. I flew back from Bangkok to KLIA on 5 Jan 2023. It was a pleasant flight from Batik Air / Malindo Air until I reached the airport. Apparently, the KLIA Aerotrain is on maintenance and it is frustrating as it has been on and off maintenance for years. Hence, I just went to Twitter and I asked Transport Minister Anthony Loke to Spot Check KLIA Aerotrain and he showed up!

5 Jan 2022 – I tweeted

2023 and KLIA Aerotrain still in maintenance.

@anthonyloke when you come and spot check?

Within minutes, Malaysia Airports responded my Tweet.

‘Dear Wilson, we regret to inform you that our Aerotrain is undergoing urgent rectification works right now. Otherwise, it runs on scheduled hours. As previously announced, we have started our Aerotrain replacement project this year and it will complete in 2025.’

‘We have the shuttle bus service that runs 24/7 as an alternative mode. Our apologies for any inconvenience caused.’ – Malaysia Airports

To be honest for me that is an explanation from Malaysia Airports / KLIA and case closed to me.

Then, today I read that Transport Minister Anthony Loke did went to spot check KLIA Aerotrain yesterday (6/1/2023).

6 Jan 2022

Many thanks to Minister of Transport YB Anthony Loke for taking the time to meet with us this morning to observe and understand better our ongoing improvement initiatives. YB Anthony Loke had also visited several critical touchpoints at KLIA and provided valuable feedback to the team. We will continue to engage closely with the ministry in our efforts to provide better services, comfort and convenience to passengers.

Wait, did the transport minister or someone from his ministry read the tweet and he responded or pure coincidence.

Either way, our Malaysia’s transport minister Anthony Loke deserved appraisal for his relentless spot checks for the past few weeks.

Now, I am really a believer of our transport minister Anthony Loke and he really do his work. However, the reality is KLIA Aerotrain will be ready in 2025 so two more years to go.

I always believe KLIA is the ‘first impression’ for foreign tourists and this do not look good. Thank you Malaysia Airports for the fast reply and also transport minister Anthony Loke who is showed up to spot check the issue.
