AirAsia X finally compensated my cancelled booking due to pandemic

When Airasia announced that they have compensated most customers a few weeks ago, I was skeptical as my cancelled booking was never refunded. Like many other AirAsia X passengers, my flight booking was cancelled due to the pandemic. A few days ago, I received the email of AirAsia X Travel Voucher Successfully Credited. AirAsia X finally compensated my cancelled booking due to pandemic.

AirAsia X finally compensated my cancelled booking due to pandemic but they missed one so I emailed them and they fully compensated on the next few days.

The good news is they compensated but it is in the form of travel voucher, not credits or cash. The travel voucher is valid for five years with condition.

The travel voucher can be used to book any AAX flights (airline code D7) immediately and for future travel to a number of exciting international destinations currently on sale. Many more routes will be added to AAX’s network in the future including Japan, Australia, Hawaii, New Zealand, London, Dubai and Istanbul in 2022. 

Guests who have yet to receive the travel voucher are required to register for airasia rewards members here using the same email used for the booking as the travel voucher will be linked to the account. AAX will continue to prioritise processing all remaining compensation entitlements, including for bookings made by travel agents in the coming weeks. All guests will be contacted via their registered email address.

Please do take note that air flight tickets are on the high right now due to oil prices and low frequency flights. There are also limited destinations that are open for Malaysians with AirAsia X flights.

Honestly, I won’t be rushing booking AirAsia X flight this year or even next year. I might wait for late 2023 or 2024 and this is based on my personal view and opinion.

The good news is here, AirAsia X finally compensated my cancelled booking due to pandemic. The tough question is when do I use the AirAsia X travel voucher?
