Malaysia Thailand VTL Planned for May 2022

Our last visit to Thailand was in March 2020, just weeks before the lockdown. Since then, we received messages and calls from friends and followers asking us when Malaysia Thailand border will be opening. The good news is last week, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob is confident that Malaysia can implement the land Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) by May this year (2022).

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob was in Bangkok last week meeting Thailand prime minister Prayuth Chan o-cha. The most important agenda was the Malaysia Thailand Vtl planned for May 2022.

Finally, there is a date that Malaysia Thailand VTL will be happening and hopefully in May, both country borders will open.

We are speculating that there will be limited travelers crossing the border each day using the same format with Malaysia Singapore border. This means, you can’t simply cross the border without a proper entry approval.

There will be limited travelers to Thailand and vice versa to Malaysia and we are not sure if travelers are allow to drive thru.

What you should know is this is the target date and it is not confirmed yet. Both governments are probably working out the proper SOP for the Malaysia Thailand VTL.

We are in touch with Tourism Authority of Thailand Malaysia office and will offer update once there are official statements for Malaysia Thailand Vtl Planned for May 2022.

With Covid still around, please do understand traveling now is not the same anymore. However, with Malaysia Thailand VTL it will easier for travelers to travel in both countries with lesser restrictions.
