Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G Malaysia Review

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G Malaysia Review

It is time to give a proper review for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G. Among all the Samsung phones that I reviewed from Galaxy S3 onwards, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G is the most unique in terms of design, usability and innovation.

When the pre-order of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G in Malaysia announced, there are people commented the price factor of this fold phone. Within weeks, the pre-order units of Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G in Malaysia sold out like in Korea.

Why the fold phone and what drives Samsung to create, design and innovate new type of phones?

Well, time for some story telling of my Samsung trip in Korea seven years ago. I still remember the day I went to the Samsung Innovation Museum in Suwon Korea. It is one of the most memorable places to visit as you can find many unique innovation inventions within the museum.

Samsung Innovation Museum in Suwon Korea

You can find the actual first filament bulb by Thomas Edison in the museum and many other ‘first’ innovative inventions in the museum which includes the first volta battery, induction motor, telegraph, telephone and more. That is the main reason I find the Samsung Innovation Museum an eye opener.

Samsung SH-100

At one corner, they showcased the first commercial mobile phone by Motorola and the Korea’s first mobile phone by Samsung, the SH-100 created in 1988. Next to the Samsung SH-100 is the first original flip phone by Motorola 1989.

Moving forward to 2019, Samsung introduced the first fold smartphone, the Galaxy Fold and last month, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G.

Now, let’s talk about the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G based on my experience for the past couple of weeks.

Design

This is my first folding phone and to be honest, the design is amazing. I can show the photos or videos of the phone but if you touch and feel it, you will loved it.

The size of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G is smaller than Galaxy S21 Ultra but thicker. The quality and build makes it feels stylish and bold.

The back metallic finishing is classy and sleek with smooth surface. Depending which colour you pick, either one it looks good on the phone.

The first time you unfold the phone, you will feel it tight. You will get used to it once you use the phone for a few days.

The first thing you notice is the crease in the middle but it will be gone once you start using the apps, the crease will not be visible. This is same goes with the UDC (under display camera).

We got ourselves the Spigen Tough Armor Casing for extra protection but it makes the phone looks ugly. There are many phone casing for Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G but make sure you pick the practical casing.

Features

There are many cool features of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G such as the Android 11 and Qualcomm SM8350 Snapdragon 888 5G with Octacore and 4,400 mAH Battery.. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G we are using is the 256GB with 12GB RAM.

Notice how they design the keyboard on the side to maximize usability

In terms of visual, the 7.6 inch AMOLED 2X 120hz with HDR 10+ is absolutely stunning. For the audio, this is probably the best Samsung phone with the Dolby Atmos and stereo speakers.

You can setup the screen with multiple windows if you are a super multitasker. We are fine with the default setup.

The main camera triple cameras are 12MP, the front camera is 10MP while UDC (under display camera) is 4MP. We did some reviews on the cameras soon but do remember their camera features are not the key highlight of Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G.

For the photos, the quality really impressed us and it is better than most of the smartphones out there.

For those who never seen or explore the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G, you can check the short video below. This video includes the usability of the social media apps like Facebook, Instagram, Youtube as well as Google. We also included tips like how you can do the screen capture with Palm Swipe as well as the Roll Capture.

Usability

Do you ever need a fold smartphone? The main purpose of Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G is usability for day to day usage.

From a normal smartphone to a mini tablet, that is one of the key usability of Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G. This is very useful when you are at work, trying to show your work or chart to colleagues or you can use it for entertainment with bigger screen.

The main purpose of the phone is not just to impress but to maximize your productivity at work especially you are working at different venues especially during events.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G is useful in many scenarios such as for emcees to memorize their lines or a digital artist to sketch something inspirational or as read it like the eBook. The possibility of the usability of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G is endless.

Remember, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G is waterproof with IP8X rating, the first for the fold smartphone.

Overall

The Samsung Z Fold 3 5G is versatile, sleek and good for day to day usage. It still can fits in your pocket and you will love it once you know how to fully utilize the phone.

This will be a great phone for business travel as you can save many spaces for a tablet or laptop. The most important part is this is a 5G phone so this phone can last for years!

To be honest, Samsung is setting the standard high and many other phone companies are playing catch up in this upcoming few years. There are rumours other phone companies are starting to showcase their flip and fold phones in the upcoming months and years.

The big question is why wait for others when you can own one now? You can order Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 5G in Malaysia at: www.samsung.com/my/smartphones/galaxy-z-fold3-5g/buy/ or Shopee at: https://shp.ee/xt9msi9
