Wat Rong Suea Ten Blue Temple Chiang Rai

This is something interesting to share about temples in Chiang Rai, Northern Thailand. There are a few ‘color themed’ temples in Chiang Rai and they are the White Temple, Blue Temple, Red Temple and Black Temple. We blogged about the White Temple Wat Rong Kun six years ago and this time, we are going to share our experience visiting the Wat Rong Suea Ten Blue Temple Chiang Rai.

We visited the Blue Temple or Wat Rong Suea Ten in Rong Suiea Ten in the district of Rimkok in Chiang Rai. This beautiful blue temple is completed in January 2016 and hence not many tourists visited this temple.

We were staying in Singha Park and we went to the city to check out new attractions and places of interest in Chiang Rai.

Wat Rong Suea Ten is one of the few places we discovered and this is a very beautiful temple.

‘Suea Ten’ means dancing tiger and there were tigers who used to jump over the river and this is how the name Rong Seua Ten village was formed. We read that there was a ruin of an abandoned temple at the temple location and in 1996, the villagers decided to build this temple.

The exterior of the temple is blue in colour with a large white Buddha that marks the spirit.

What you will see is unique sculptures around the exterior of the temple and this reminds us of the White temple.

If you look at the details of the sculptures and craftsmanship, you will be amazed.

For the interior of the temple, there is a huge sitting white big Buddha.

The pillars are coloured and drawn in blue colour and you spot many locals praying here. Please take note of the dress code and try not to make noises while in this area.

The wall and the ceiling is painted in details. This is definitely one of the most beautiful temples in Thailand.
