In the city centre of Mae Hong Son you find two neighboring temples near the lake. The Wat Chong Kham was built first in 1827 and was the first temple in the province. It has a wooden construction, green colors and in the middle an eight stage tower containing roof decorations. These small vertical detailed symbols are typical for temples in this regions, the influence is coming from Myanmar. Inside the temple Buddha statues have flashy lights behind their head.

The Wat Chong Klang was built during the late 19th century and has a white golden dome, a Burmese style silver tower and holds wooden Buddha images. The temple functioned as a resting area for Burmese monks traveling by.

In de binnenstad van Mae Hong Son vind je twee aan elkaar gekoppelde tempels aan een meer. De Wat Chong Kham werd als eerste gebouwd in 1827 en was de eerste tempel van de provincie. Deze bestaat uit een groen houten constructie met een zilver torentje uit acht niveaus. De kleine verticale versieringen op de daken zijn typisch voor tempels in deze regio, de invloed komt uit Myanmar. In de tempel staan Boeddha beelden met lichtanimaties achter hun hoofd. 

De Wat Chong Klang werd later in de 19de eeuw gebouwd en heeft een wit gouden stupa, een Birmese zilveren toren en binnen in houten Boeddha beelden. De tempel werd gebruikt als rust verblijf voor reizende Birmese monniken.
