SKI WEEKENDS IN FRANCE

Eager for some slope time but can’t go for a whole week? France is the UK’s favourite place for a short ski break – so head over and spend a few days exploring huge ski areas and feasting on fondue.

How do short ski breaks work?

With Crystal, you can get away during the week or over the Weekend for three or four days’ skiing – and fly from your nearest regional airport straight to Geneva. We’ll be there at the airport to meet you and help get you on your way, and your shuttle transfer will whisk you to your resort in around 90 minutes. Plus, you can add lift passes and equipment hire to your booking, so everything’s ready for you when you arrive.

Best resorts for a weekend ski break

Take your pick from some of France’s best resorts – they’ve all got high-altitude slopes, great snow records, and a range of hotels and apartments close to the lifts.

Avoriaz: This modern, car-free town is a great pick for a family ski resort – spread out in a self-catering apartment and be on the slopes in minutes. You’ll have direct access to 650km of slopes in the Portes du Soleil area, which are especially good for beginners, intermediates and boarders. And when you’re not on the mountain, you can splash around in the pools at the Aquariaz water park, and do snowy activities like ice skating, snowmobiling and horse-drawn carriage rides.

Chamonix: A vibrant town at the foot of Mont Blanc, Chamonix is known for its challenging pistes – including the most well-known off-piste route in Europe, Vallée Blanche. And there are tons of bars around where you can celebrate the end of each day. Tap your toe to live music, belt out karaoke or dance away your après hours at the famous Folie Douce. Chamonix is one of the top resorts for non-skiers too, with everything from swimming pools to ice caves.

Flaine: A purpose-built, family friendly pick with some of the best snow in Europe. Beginners and intermediates will love the 265km of piste across the Grand Massif ski area. And different levels of slope lead back to the same hubs, so mixed-ability groups can easily meet up for lunch. Choose from a range of hotels and apartments to stay in, all of which are high quality and no more than a couple of minutes from the lifts.
