Finally Changed my Vios Absorbers after 8 Years

Tags:

It was about time, my front absorber just died on me. Felt strange, especially over humps you feel somethings loose. There is no twisting or turn on the Tyre when you go thru the hump but instead you can feel thru the accelerator peddle that something is shaking. I knew it was the absorber, it's been years since i've changed it. Using Tein sport spring with standard OEM absorbers was fine, slightly bouncy on humps but overall was good. Took my car for it's 200K service at Pintyres in Kulim, Kedah. Told the old man there what i felt and immediately he told me it's the absorber.
We did check and felt the oil leaking at the absorber shaft/piston rod, instead of changing 1 set i choose to change both instead. It was incredible it lasted this long, but i wasn't about to risk it further.
They did have supply of Vios NCP 93 shock absorber, the total cost of both absorber plus installation was RM800 + RM 24 for tyre balancing. Alignment was free due to the absorber change.
The front absorber is more expensive but easy to install meanwhile the back absorber was cheap but the labour cost was high. Both roughly the same (part + labour = RM400).
I also did my service as usual there, this time was for 200k mileage. I bought key items at an automotive spare shop near KEEVs Kulim.
Items to change: 200K mileage
Automatic transmission fluid (ATF WS), WS is specific for vios 08 or NCP93 (IV was used in the earlier vios versions), Semi synthetic engine oil , oil filter, air filter & spark plugs. I missed 1 item which was the fuel filter, which i plan to change next round. A friend of mine also suggested to change the timing chain, still in consideration.
