Which Airlines Are Still Flying To Israel?

Despite escalating violence and disruptions at airports, several airlines are still operating flights to Tel Aviv, including EL AL, Israir, Air Europa, Iberia, flydubai, Ryanair, and Virgin Atlantic. Virgin Atlantic and British Airways have implemented flexible policies allowing passengers to rebook or cancel without fees. While some airlines, such as American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and United Airlines, have temporarily suspended their Tel Aviv-bound flights, a considerable number of flights were still operating to Ben Gurion International Airport at the time of writing. The situation remains under review and passengers are advised to check their flight status before traveling.

Commentary:

Amid escalating violence and disruptions at airports in Israel caused by attacks from the Palestinian militant group Hamas, it is interesting to note that several airlines are still serving the country. Israel’s flag carrier, EL AL, continues to operate flights on lucrative routes such as Tel Aviv-New York. Other carriers like Israir, Air Europa, Iberia, flydubai, Ryanair, and Virgin Atlantic also have flights operating to Tel Aviv.

Although the number of flights from non-Israeli carriers is less compared to Israeli carriers, they are not completely absent. Airlines such as Air Europa, Iberia, flydubai, Ryanair, and Virgin Atlantic still have Tel Aviv-bound flights. However, the situation remains unpredictable, and airlines are continuously reviewing their flying programs. For instance, Virgin Atlantic has implemented a flexible policy allowing passengers to rebook or cancel their Tel Aviv-bound flights without incurring additional fees.

Similar changes have been made by British Airways, offering a flexible booking policy to customers wishing to change their travel dates free of charge. Despite these measures, some airlines such as American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and United Airlines have temporarily suspended their Tel Aviv-bound flights due to safety concerns.

Fun Facts:

1. EL AL, Israel’s flag carrier, is known for its strict security measures and has never had a hijacking or terrorist attack on any of its flights.
2. Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion International Airport is named after Israel’s first Prime Minister, David Ben-Gurion.
3. Tel Aviv, often called the “Start-Up Nation,” has one of the highest concentrations of start-ups in the world, earning it the title of the “Silicon Wadi.”
4. Some of the world’s most advanced military technologies, including the Iron Dome missile defense system, were developed in Israel.
5. Israel is home to the lowest point on Earth, the Dead Sea, which is famous for its high salt concentration and the ability to make people float effortlessly.
