Treks in Himachal that you should explore

 Mountains have their unique aura that attracts everyone who love travelling. The stunning landscape of Himachal Pradesh along with its unique cultural ambiance makes it a special place to be.


Unknown to many, there are many treks in Himachal that any avid traveller should explore.


 

Bhaba Pass Trek

Among the treks in Himachal, Bhaba Pass trek is a leading one owing to its pristine beauty. The lush green grasslands that you will encounter on this trek will definitely leave you spellbound.

You will begin this trek from green pastures of Bhaba and will end in a different world in barren mountains of Spiti. As you get to the highest point in this trek, a 180 degree view of Pin Valley is evident, something you will never forget.

The trek begins from Kafnu and on this amazing week long trek which should be done under the guidance of trainers you will pass through Mulling, Karah, Phutsirang, Mangrungse finally reaching Mudh in Spiti valley.

June to September is the best time to plan this trek. This easy to moderate trek can be done by anyone who is mentally and physically fit.

Thachi Valley Trek


This valley is at a height of 3000 meters and is among treks in Himachal. This is an untouched and unexplored valley in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh and you will definitely feel close to nature when you decide to undertake this trek.

You can stay with local people on the way as the region does not have any kind of hotels and restaurants. One thing is guaranteed though; you will definitely be in a land that is known as Devbhoomi or Land of Gods.

The trek begins from Shalwad village and you can also proceed on this trek from Mid December to Mid January if you wish to witness snowfall in plenty. On the way you will come across deodar, pine, tosh, oak forests and in case you are interested in exploring floral wealth in the region, this valley trek is definitely your best bet.


Indrahar Pass Trek


Located at an altitude of 4,324 meters, Indrahar is one of the best treks in Himachal. You will find trekkers from all over the globe on this trek which signifies the popularity of this offbeat trek.

This is a moderate to difficult level trek and involves a total of 35 Km for which you should definitely have some guts. On the way the trek goes through Triund, mana, illaka Got and Lahesh Caves.

It is located on the way ahead from Triund in Dharamshala region of Kangra district. You will also find dense deodar and rhododendron forests on this trek. This is a moderate level trek and you can proceed on this trek from mid May to September-October.

It is advised that you should acclimatize for a few days in Dharamshala if you are planning to go to Indrahar top.

Pabbar Valley Trek


Another of the treks in Himachal is the Pabbar valley trek which originates in Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh. This trek can also be considered as a connecting point from Shimla district to Kinnaur District.

The high meadows, snow bound Mountains and finally the apple orchards of Sangla make this trek a unique and must try approach for anyone who is in love with mountains. This trek originates from Janglik in Shimla and goes on to Kinnaur region of Himachal. June to October is one of the best seasons to proceed on this trek.

Chandartal Lake Trek


Chandartal Lake is also known as Moon Lake. Located on the way to Spiti, you will have to take a detour to the lake which is shrouded by high hills. Reaching Chandrataal is not difficult at all, as the path is a motorable road and you can reach the lake in your vehicle only. If you wish to trek, you can trek via Hampta Pass Route.

However, it is considered among treks in Himachal as it is located in wilderness of Spiti Mountains. You will also not find any kind of dhaba on the way to the lake. Be prepared to pitch a tent and cook your own food. The experience will however be worth remembering for life.

June to mid October is the best time to plan a visit to Chandrataal Lake. However, travelling is group is advised as the region is remote.



Churdhar Peak Trek


This is perhaps the easiest of the lot. This is one of the treks in Himachal that can be approached through multiple routes in District Shimla and Sirmaur. Perhaps the trek from Nauradhar in Sirmaur is the best bet. The 14 Km trek will take a day but passes through barren landscape, green meadows and high Himalayan ambiance. In the end, the climb is worth it as you reach the holy abode of Lord Shiva. Spend the night in the Dharamshala at the top or pitch your own tent, either way, this is among the treks in Himachal that will remain etched in your memory for long.

A word of caution through! Trekking is not for the average sight seeing tourists and you should have genuine interest in exploring heights in lesser-known Himalayan regions, if you wish to embark on any such treks in Himachal.

You should also get yourself medically examined before you head on any such trek. In most of the cases, if you are going through a travel company, the medical examination is a pre requisite. Moreover come with a positive frame of mind, carry all your high altitude equipment and acclimatize at lower altitude for few days before you make the climb.
