Canada Jetlines increases flight hours during the second quarter.

The company that was tipped to be one the best and growing ultra-low-cost carriers in Canada,  Canada Jetlines has reported an increase in flight hours for the second quarter of 2023.

The airline that has yet to make a dent in the Canadian aviation industry said it had a high utilization rate for its fleet of two Airbus A320 aircraft which have operated 1,518 block hours in the period up to the end of June.  The firm advises this is a 265% increase over the 571 hours flown in the first quarter of this year.

Canada Jetlines recently obtained its foreign Air Operator certificate from the Jamaican government. Further Transport Canada has added North Atlantic operations to its certificate which will allow the airline to operate numerous charter flights to Greenland this summer.

Canada Jetlines has started the process to get European Third Country Operator (TCO) certificate which would allow the firm to bid on wet-lease contracts for the busy European summer season next year.

“We are very pleased with this significant growth in flying hours and high aircraft utilization. We continue to see strong demand and very positive reception in the industry for the quality of the service we provide. This is thanks to the commitment and dedication of our employees to service excellence,” said Eddy Doyle President and CEO of Canada Jetlines.

Whilst the airline hasn't made many inroads in the already highly competitive Canadian domestic scheduled service market,  it is carving out a niche as a mainly wet-lease charter operation, with a few sports teams already signing contracts.  It hasn't lived up to the pre-launch hype as of yet, but its third aircraft is on schedule to be delivered by the end of July 2023, subject to the usual 'satisfaction of all conditions precedent to delivery' the airline says.
