After the ceremony, the President and First Lady Iriana Jokowi planted trees at the Zero Kilometer Point. The President planted a red meranti tree, while the First Lady planted a camphor tree. The regional heads also planted trees from their respective regions.

The President clarified that the construction of the new capital city does not mean that the central government is abandoning Jakarta or other former capital cities. Rather, the new capital city is intended to address economic and infrastructure inequalities and to provide a city with international standards and facilities.

Furthermore, during his speech, President Jokowi expressed his gratitude to all the components of the nation who have supported the development of the new capital city. He thanked the high state institutions such as MPR RI, DPR RI, DPD RI, Supreme Court, Constitutional Court, BPK, Judicial Commission, and all components of society for supporting the beginning of the construction of the new capital city.

In addition, the previous night, President Jokowi had explained about the new capital city to governors from across Indonesia in a meeting held at Novotel Hotel in Balikpapan. He clarified that the establishment of the new capital city did not mean that the central government would abandon Jakarta, as Jakarta still played an important role in the nation's economy and had a large population. Instead, the new capital city was meant to address the economic and infrastructure disparities across the country and to create a modern, international-standard city with top-tier facilities such as international hospitals and universities. The President also encouraged governors to attract foreign investment to their respective regions through the new omnibus law.

The President also expressed his gratitude to the governors who attended the event. According to President Jokowi, this is a form of diversity and strong unity among the nation's children in building this new capital city.

"The collaboration between the central government, regional governments, the military, the police, the private sector, and the entire society in supporting the development of the national capital city will greatly help us achieve our aspirations," he said.

The former Governor of Jakarta also expressed his thanks to all components of the nation who have supported the beginning of the development of the new capital city.

He expressed his sincere gratitude to the high institutions of the state, such as the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR), the House of Representatives (DPR), the Regional Representative Council (DPD), the Supreme Court, the Constitutional Court, the Audit Board, the Judicial Commission, and all components of society in supporting the development of the new capital city.

"Hopefully, we pray that the guidance and blessings from Allah SWT will give us ease and smoothness in building the new capital city," he said.
