Joko Widodo's real name is not only known by all Indonesians, but also by the world. The 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia has become famous since he was involved in the world of politics as the Mayor of Solo. Youth
Ir. H Joko Widodo was born in Surakarta on June 21, 1961. Ir. H Joko Widodo, familiarly called Jokowi, is the 7th president of the Republic of Indonesia. In fact, Joko Widodo has a nickname Mulyono. He was born to Notomihardjo and Sujiatmi Notomihardjo. Jokowi has 3 younger sisters, namely Iit Sriyantini, Ida Yati and Titik Relawati and a younger brother, but he died after birth.
Like a child in general, Jokowi goes to school from elementary to college. He graduated from the Department of Forestry, UGM Yogyakarta. At UGM he learned many things about wood and its technology.
Jokowi married Iriana in December 1986 in Solo. From this marriage, they were blessed with 3 children, namely: Gibran Rakabumin, the second child named Kaesang Pangarep, and the third child named Kahiyang Ayu.
Entrepreneur
Jokowi had migrated to Aceh and worked in one of the BUMN industries called PT. Aceh Kraft Paper. Not long after, he stopped and decided to start a furniture business in Solo. This business had brought Jokowi as a form of success in the business of exporting furniture abroad.
Political Career
In 2005, Jokowi started his political career. Starting with running for mayor of Solo. In this contestation, Jokowi, who was promoted by PKB and PDI-P, succeeded in winning even though he did not have sufficient political experience.
Based on his leadership attitude, he managed to change the face of the city of Solo to be more beautiful and safe. Since becoming the mayor of Solo he has become popular. One of the reasons is because he has a habit of blusukan in the community.
Jokowi's performance for 5 years has in fact succeeded in satisfying the people's day. Because of that, he then ran for mayor for the second time and again won the 2010 regional election. His experience and political achievements in Solo for 10 years like that made Jokowi known to Indonesians.
Governor of DKI Jakarta
Jokowi's political career became even more brilliant when he worked as governor of DKI Jakarta. Initially, Jokowi was reluctant and refused when former vice president Jusuf Kalla asked him to run for governor of DKI. He accepted the offer after being promoted by the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI) and Gerindra. In the nomination, he was paired with Basuki Tjahaya Purnama (Ahok). Both of them also successfully occupied positions as governor and deputy governor of DKI Jakarta in 2012.
7th President of the Republic of Indonesia
In 2014 together with Jusuf Kalla, Jokowi ran for president of the Republic of Indonesia. He also successfully won the contest with a total of 53, 15% of the votes. During his leadership, Jokowi made various policies, although some of them reaped the pros and cons. After that, in 2019 Jokowi re-elected himself as the first person of the Republic of Indonesia with KH Ma'ruf Amin as deputy. Again, he won and became president again.
