Tour Overview

Day 1 : Marrakech to Rose Valley, Dades Gorges, Ait Ben Haddou Ouarzazate

We will start our journey across the High Atlas Mountains on day one, stopping at a traditional Argan oil cooperative and the Tizi n’Tichka mountain pass for beautiful views of Berber settlements and majestic mountain vistas. We’ll also go to Ouarzazate, the Hollywood of Africa, where blockbusters like Gladiator and Game of Thrones were filmed, as well as Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, the biggest Kasbah in Morocco and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Also, you will get the opportunity to visit Rose Valley’s Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, where you may sample the region’s rose-related items, and spend the night in a traditional Riad in Dades Gorges.

Day 2 : Dades Valley all the way to Todra Gorges, followed by camel trekking via Merzouga

On day two, be ready to be astounded as you go to the Monkey Fingers rock formations and then proceed to the Todra Gorges, a natural oasis. Todra Gorges is a rock climber’s paradise, with towering granite cliffs reaching heights of 300m! After lunch, we’ll go to the Touroug Berber village to see a cooperative that makes traditional Berber clothing. During lunch, we’ll make a pit break at the former irrigation system used to irrigate trees before traveling to the Erfoud and Merzouga deserts. To arrive to your tent, you’ll ride a camel across golden sand dunes, where you’ll be treated to a spectacular sunset and an evening of music and delectable local food beneath the stars.

Day 3 : From Merzouga via Rissani through Ziz Valley to Cedar Forest to Ifrane, and then back to Fes

On the third day, get up early to witness the magnificent sunrise over the desert and then fuel yourself with a substantial meal back at camp. Next, we’ll travel to Rissani, a historic and traditional souk or market where you can discover the sights, sounds, and scents of local handicrafts and spices. We’ll stop at Ziz Valley next, where you can get beautiful images of the lush valley, and then continue across the Middle Atlas Mountains to the Cedar Forest, where you can see playful monkeys and tall trees. Before reaching the royal capital of Fes, we’ll lastly stop in the lovely Alpine-style village of Ifrane, widely known as the Switzerland of Morocco.
