There’s a strong coworking scene in Lisbon. And with more than 50 coworking spaces spread throughout the city, you’re spoiled for choice when it comes to finding a place to get your work done.

I’ve spent time living and working here myself and loved it. To help you decide which spot to pick, here’s my pick of the 15 best coworking spaces in Lisbon:

1. Heden Santa Apolónia

First off, Heden has four different coworking spaces in Lisbon. Their Santa Apolónia branch is located right on the Lisbon waterfront and offers fantastic views of the Tagus River.

The space is housed in a contemporary building with floor-to-ceiling windows, so the interior is light, airy, and inspiring. There’s a great community feel, with regular social events and workshops, including cooking classes, live music evenings, and movie screenings.

It’s also located a mere 5-minute walk away from the historic Santa Apolónia train and Metro station, so is easy to access via public transport from various parts of the city.

Inside, the space is a calming, green oasis with more than a thousand lush plants and lots of natural light. It honestly feels more like a giant greenhouse than a coworking space and is an excellent spot for those who (like me) take creative inspiration from nature.

This is one of the most unusual coworking spaces I’ve ever seen, and I love it. If you enjoy being surrounded by greenery, be sure to check this place out – it may well be the best coworking spot in Lisbon for you.

Village Underground is another one of the most unique coworking spaces in Lisbon. It’s made using repurposed shipping containers, old double-decker buses, and other bits of industrial machinery.

This place reminds me a lot of the original Boxpark in London. As you’d expect, it’s full of trendy hipster types, and creative professionals. Like most hipster hangouts, this spot is located in a former industrial area of the city that’s recently been redeveloped.

It also has a recording studio on site, and you’re likely to rub shoulders with a diverse range of creative people here. In the evenings, the place transforms into a live music venue and events space – it’s very cool.

It has a great range of flexible workstations, including open-plan areas, communal tables, and private booths, all designed with productivity and comfort in mind.

There’s lots of natural light, and various areas of the coworking space offer great views of the vibrant Santa Cruz neighborhood. The space hosts regular networking and social events, and there’s a strong emphasis on meeting and collaborating with your fellow coworkers.

Impact Hub Lisbon is part of the global Impact Hub network of coworking spaces. It’s a well-known brand around the world, with a focus on social innovation and community building.

The Lisbon branch is situated between Bairro Alto and Alfama – two of my favorite neighborhoods in the city. From here, you can easily walk to most of the city’s most famous sights, and there are absolutely tons of amazing bars, cafes, and restaurants nearby.

One thing to bear in mind is that this space is only open Monday – Friday, 9 am – 6 pm, so it might not be the best place for you to cowork in Lisbon if you need to work outside of these times.

Outsite Cowork Cafe is located in a beautiful, historic townhouse in the buzzing Cais do Sodré neighborhood. It’s conveniently close to the Time Out Market, an amazing food hall that’s packed full of casual eateries, restaurants, bars, and shops.

As its name suggests, this place is part cafe part coworking space. They serve delicious specialty coffee and the working spaces are surrounded by plenty of art and plants and are decorated tastefully.

Note: this is another coworking space in Lisbon that’s only open Monday – Friday, 9 am – 6 pm.

There are several IDEA coworking spaces in Lisbon. The Palácio Sotto Mayor branch is located in a large basement level underneath the Sotto Mayor Palace, a grand 19th-century mansion close to the Parque Eduardo VII.

Its central location means you’re close to many great places to eat and drink, and it’s also very easy to access using public transport (including Lisbon’s iconic old trams).

Resvés is one of my favorite coworking spaces in Lisbon. It’s located on the edge of the stylish Príncipe Real district, on a quiet side street that’s just minutes away from the tranquil Jardim da Estrela park.

The staff here are warm and friendly, the internet is fast, and there’s a great selection of comfy places (both indoor and outdoor) to get through some work. There’s a range of events and social activities throughout the week, including pilates, yoga classes, and communal lunches.

The atmosphere is very calm inside, and the whole space is decorated with the work of local artists. It’s open 24/7 (for dedicated desk members only), and they even have an on-site recording and production studio (great for podcasters).

WorkHub is one of the best coworking spaces near Lisbon airport. It’s housed inside a beautiful art-deco wine factory and warehouse on the city’s waterfront, between Braço de Prata station and Cais da Matinha marina.

This place is the epitome of industrial chic. It has gorgeous floor-to-ceiling windows, lots of polished concrete, and exposed steel girders.

Add to its design, comfortable designer furniture, great lighting, the odd piece of historic factory machinery, and loads of space, and you’ve got yourself a seriously cool coworking space. It’s popular with tech workers, start-up founders, and other entrepreneurs.

The Base has two locations in Portugal – one in Lisbon, and the other in the surfing mecca of Ericeira.

The Lisbon branch is located just north of Bairro Alto, close to the sweeping Avenida da Liberdade. It’s easily accessible via tram and is close to lots of shops and restaurants.

However, for me, the stand-out feature of this coworking space is that it offers all members (even hot-desking members) 24/7 access to the space. The majority of coworking spaces in Lisbon, if they even offer 24/7 access at all, only make this available to fixed desk members.

Despite having a fairly no-frills appearance, this place still manages to provide all of the essentials that make up a great coworking space; comfortable chairs, reliable fast internet, lots of plants, and even free tea and coffee.

They even have a sauna (although you need to pay extra for that), luggage storage facilities, and wellness classes on their amazing roof terrace. I like that you can buy a half-day pass too (see below).

Located close to the Doca de Alcântara marina, this space is a little way out from the hustle and bustle of the city center but is easily accessible from various parts of the city.

If you’re looking for somewhere different to come and get work done, check out this place. It’s also super affordable.
