We are delighted to welcome you upon your arrival at the airport or train station. Our journey today takes us on a full-day excursion to the beautiful island of Gangasagar, located at the confluence of the Ganga River and the Bay of Bengal. This island is renowned for its spiritual significance, particularly the Kapil Muni Ashram, which is considered a place of great religious importance. It is here that you can partake in a Holy Dip (Snaan) at the confluence of the River Ganga and the Bay of Bengal.

In the evening, we will return to Kolkata, where we will drop you off at your preferred location, be it the train station or airport.

Please note that we will provide a vehicle to take you from Kolkata to the Ferry Ghat, specifically Lot No. 8 or Harwood Point, which is a distance of 90 kilometers. Once you reach Lot No. 8, you will board a ferry to cross the Muriganga River and arrive at Kachuberia. From Kachuberia, you will continue your journey to the sacred Gangasagar Isle, where you can visit the Kapil Muni Temple, using a separate car for this part of the trip.

For a Gangasagar Tour departing from Kolkata, whether you opt for a car or train journey, it is imperative to consider these crucial factors to ensure a smooth and hassle-free experience:

By Car:

Begin your journey from Kolkata and head south along Diamond Harbour Road (NH-12), covering a distance of approximately 90 kilometers to Harwood Point, near Kakdwip.

At Harwood Point, you’ll find ferry services that will convey you to Kachuberia, situated at the north end of Gangasagar Island. The Panchayat Samiti oversees a designated parking area near the ferry terminal.

The ferry ride spans about 3.5 kilometers, crossing a tributary of the Ganges River, which is locally known as the Hooghly River or Muriganga River, before reaching Kachuberia.

From Kachuberia, you can avail private cars or buses to complete the remaining 32-kilometer journey to the pilgrimage site at Sagardwip.

Upon your arrival at the pilgrimage parking area, you’ll find the Kapil Muni Temple located approximately 200 meters away, while the Gangasagar confluence is about 700 meters from there.

By Train and Ferry:

Trains operate on the Sealdah South lines, departing from Kolkata and passing through Kakdwip before reaching Namkhana.

At Namkhana, you can catch a ferry from Bakkhali, which will transport you across the Muriganga distributary (Channel Creek) to arrive at Sagar Island (Gangasagar).

Upon reaching Sagar Island, you’ll need to make use of local transportation options to access the confluence, the temple, and other pilgrimage sites.

It’s crucial to be mindful that, regardless of your choice of car or train travel, commencing your journey as early in the morning as possible is essential. Travelers often encounter delays on the island side, where ferry services can be suspended due to low tide. To ensure a seamless Gangasagar tour from Kolkata or Howrah, it’s advisable to plan your trip with an early start.
