Wiber Rent a Car Mallorca

Wiber belongs to the “newcomers” among the Car rental companies in Mallorca and has been around since 2017. Today they also has offices in Alicante, Malaga and Valencia.
The company’s vision is to offer customers high service, transparency throughout the entire process and, together with new technology, improve the entire experience from booking to vehicle return. They are well on their way to succeeding in that, I think.

The website is well thought out, has a good structure and clear information.
The cars are divided into different groups (A, A2, B18, E, etc) with pictures and information about equipment and functions. There are three different price ranges to choose from: Smart Car, All Inclusive and Full/Full, each with its specific attributes.

– Smart Car is the perfect choice for customers who value flexibility on all levels, pick-up, insurance, etc. The car is picked up and left at the airport. With the help of the mobile phone, you scan a code that unlocks the car. Obviously very popular as the cars seem to be constantly sold out.

– Full/Full is the option for all price-conscious people. This also means that you have to pay a deposit of between 700-1,200 euros, a sum that is refunded when the car is returned in the same condition as when picked up.

– The All Inclusive option falls between the first two. With total insurance, you don’t have to worry about possible damage to the car and thus avoid the deposit. Online check-in makes the check-in process much smoother as the car keys are collected from a machine (Smart Box) outside the office.

Wiber’s office is located in Poligono Son Oms, a 5-10 minute drive from the airport. Own shuttle buses pick up and drop off customers regularly. The office is fresh, has AC, toilets and a drink machine. The waiting time seems to be short, a maximum of 5 minutes on average during my four visits to the site. A positive detail, in terms of location, is the proximity to the connection to the MA-15 and MA-19 highways for anyone going to Manacor, Artá, Calla Millor, Porto Cristo, etc or Llucmajor, Santanyi, Calad’Or, etc. Both cars in the All Inclusive and Full/full categories are picked up and returned here.

Like most of their colleagues in the industry, the sellers on site suggest that you take out insurance that covers all damages and thus avoid the deposit and any deductible. If you have booked a Full/Full car, you must be prepared for this. If insurance is desired, you should take it out in connection with the car rental, then the price is lower.

Contacting Wiber by phone leaves a little to be desired. Regardless of the language chosen on the phone or the matter you have, you can count on several calls to get there. As a rule, after a short waiting time you are asked to try later and the call is disconnected… Out of my roughly 20 calls to the Mallorca office, only two were answered immediately. However, I must admit that the help I have received from the agents over the phone once I have arrived has exceeded my expectations. Both when setting up contracts, changing cars and general information.

The car fleet is also similar to that of competitors, small and medium cars, SUVs, minibuses (9 pers.), hybrid cars and some premium cars. However, no motorcycles or electric cars. Fiat 500s are often in demand, Ford Pumas offer the best value for money.

After a completed booking, Wiber sends a confirmation email with a copy of the contract, pictures of any damage to the car, information about the office and various car-related technical documents. You can also create an account where all information regarding contracts, final invoices, discounts, etc. is saved. Smooth!

So how expensive is it to rent the holiday car with Wiber? Prices vary of course depending on various factors, type and size of car, season, how far in advance the booking is made, etc. As an example, the price for three cars in group C for 36 days spread over three different booking occasions in June, July and August ended up at 1634 Euro. Or about 45 euros/day. This includes full insurance. Must admit that the foresight has not always been top notch and the price could have been a little lower with better planning.

A company that stands out a little and feels modern thanks to the website and the solutions for smooth car collection. Although Wiber is not one of the cheapest Car Rental Companies in Mallorca, they offer competitive prices which, combined with the car models in the fleet that customers demand, means that you get a lot for your money.

Tip:
– Compare the prices from comparison sites with Wiber’s own. Keep in mind that the prices shown almost always apply to rental cars in the Full/Full category.
– For more results, change the pick-up time in the search. For example, 11.00 instead of 12.00 can sometimes make a difference.
– The rental car must be returned with a full tank of fuel. There is a gas station (Repsol) very close by, which makes things easier. The staff fills up the car and you pay by card or cash at the cash desk.
