Pair this look with a pair of jeans and chunky boots.

What To NOT Wear To Korea

Having been to both Japan and South Korea, I’ve noticed that Japanese fashion is a bit more conservative compared to Korean fashion. So I’d say there’s more freedom when it comes to choosing what you can wear.

But of course, there’s no formal dress code – so feel free to dress however you like! Here’s just what I noticed not many people wearing in Korea.

  • Bright Colors. You’ll see most Koreans wearing black, white, and other neutral colors. You’ll rarely see color being worn.
  • Low Tops: You won’t see low tops being worn in Korea too often. You’ll certainly see it be worn but not common.
  • Hanbok in Non-Touristy Places: Tourists often rent hanboks (Korean traditional clothing) to wear in places that are traditionally more touristy. If you wear hanbok in non-touristy places, you might get some weird looks.
