This post shows you what to wear to Korea.
South Korea can get SO cold in the winter and even in the spring! On really cold days in Seoul, the weather can be below 20°F. So freezing!
So in this post, a good amount of amounts will be sharing outfits that will keep you extremely warm and also look stylish. The rest of the outfits will show you what to wear in the summer and fall when it’s much warmer.
What To Wear To Korea
1. Beanie and Big White Jacket
For the first outfit, we’re Wearing a big white snow jacket. Then, we’re pairing it with a beanie and a chunky scarf. Make sure to wear at least 2 layers inside that will keep you super warm.
2. Bucket Hat and Big White Jacket
While traveling, we definitely want to pack light. So we’re wearing the same white jacket and wearing a different hat and pants to change up the look a bit. Instead of a beanie, try wearing a bucket hat instead. This suprinsingly will keep your head quite warm.
3. Ear Muffs and Big White Jacket
Now, we’re wearing the same white jacket and then pairing it with some ear muffs. it not only looks great but also keeps you extremely warm. Ear muffs are sometimes even warmer than a hat that doesn’t cover your ears.
4. Black Scarf and Long Coat
If the weather rises slightly during winter in Korea (around 30°F to 40°F), try wearing a wool long coat. Make sure to still wear thermal shirts underneath to keep extremely warm.
5. Puffer Vest and Jeans
In the fall when it’s not too cold, try wearing a puffer vest with a pair of jeans. It’s extremely trendy and stylish outfit you often see in Korea. Many Korea clothing shops also sell puffer vests.
6. Puffer Jacket and Black Pants
When it’s a colder, you can wear a puffer vest with a pair of simple black pants. Make sure to choose a puffer vest that’s cropped – this looks the most flattering.
7. Puffer Coat and Black Pants
Similar to the wool coat, you can wear a puffer coat during the winter season. This looks great when you tie the belt around the waist.
8. Black Puffer Jacket
A staple winter outfit you see in Korea is definitely a long black puffer jacket. I swear, almost everyone is wearing this in winter. If you want to blend in, this is definitely the best outfit to choose. Make sure to wear warm layers inside too.
9. Bomber Jacket and Mini Skirt
When the weather is warmer, you can wear a mini skirt with some tall boots. This is an outfit I see tons of stylish girls wear on the streets of Korea.
10. Black Long Coat and Scarf
Another Korea winter outfit is to wear a black long coat with a chunky scarf that adds a pop of color. The Acne Studios scarf is pricey but has been incredibly trendy lately.
11. Sweater and Jeans
For this next outfit, we’re wearing something very simple but also very chic. Korea styles frequently draws inspiration from French style so wearing this black and white stripe sweater looks very French but also Korean too.
Pair this look with a pair of jeans and chunky boots.
What To NOT Wear To Korea
Having been to both Japan and South Korea, I’ve noticed that Japanese fashion is a bit more conservative compared to Korean fashion. So I’d say there’s more freedom when it comes to choosing what you can wear.
But of course, there’s no formal dress code – so feel free to dress however you like! Here’s just what I noticed not many people wearing in Korea.
- Bright Colors. You’ll see most Koreans wearing black, white, and other neutral colors. You’ll rarely see color being worn.
- Low Tops: You won’t see low tops being worn in Korea too often. You’ll certainly see it be worn but not common.
- Hanbok in Non-Touristy Places: Tourists often rent hanboks (Korean traditional clothing) to wear in places that are traditionally more touristy. If you wear hanbok in non-touristy places, you might get some weird looks.
