1. Jaisalmer Fort

The fort of Jaisalmer, situated on the beautiful dunes of the Thar Desert, is more than a fort; it’s also a mini-town with mesmerizing dwellings, temples, stores, and restaurants. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that belongs to the ‘Hill Forts of India’ category. Jaisalmer Fort was founded in 1156 and is named after Rao Jaisal, a former Bhati Rajput ruler.

The Jaisalmer Fort, also known as ‘Sonar Qila’ or ‘Golden Fort,’ is one of the world’s largest forts and is located on the city’s southern outskirts. It’s a big structure with a lot of aesthetic appeals. The experience of walking through the convoluted pathways is worthwhile. The Jaisalmer Fort was originally known as ‘Trikut Garh’ because of its triangle design and the fact that it was erected on top of the Trikuta Hills. The ‘Sonar Quila (Golden Fort), as it is known locally, accommodates over a quarter of Jaisalmer’s inhabitants.

2. Desert Safari in Jaisalmer

Tourists flock to Jaisalmer in Rajasthan because of its vast tracts of desert sand. In Jaisalmer, the Sam Sand Dunes are a popular destination for desert safaris. A Jeep transports you to a location near the Sam Sand Dunes (about 45 kilometers from the city), where the camel ride begins and lasts around 90 minutes. Along the route, you’ll stop at a few attractions.

The safaris can be done in the morning or evening, and are followed by a sumptuous supper and a musical dance performance that exhibits Rajasthan’s native culture. The lunch will be simple, and the tent will be set up for you so that you may enjoy astronomy.

3. Kuldhara Village

Kuldhara Village, around 20 kilometers from Jaisalmer’s Golden City, is one of the most interesting and intriguing attraction locations that you must include on your agenda. The area is considered to be creepy and haunted, with plenty of legends and myths to go around. Its desolate and hauntingly gorgeous look, standing alone in broad swaths of desert, lives up to its reputation. There have been reports of ghostly and paranormal activity in and around the village, but no one has been able to give concrete evidence. If you want to be enveloped by a sense of mystery, go there.

4. Gadisar Lake

The picturesque Gadisar Lake, on the outskirts of Jaisalmer in Rajasthan’s parched state, looks like an oasis in the middle of nowhere. In the Middle Ages, there were no canals, irrigation systems, or other technical means of transporting water to Rajasthan’s desert regions.

Raja Rawal Jaisal worked hard to build this reservoir to suit the needs of his people. The lake, which is close to Jaisalmer’s fort, gives a nice respite from the desert’s sweltering heat. When the eastern sky is blood red and the sun rises, its rays strike the upper levels of Jaisalmer Fort, Gadisar Lake, and the neighboring fort creates spectacular and picturesque vistas.

5. Patwon ki Haveli

Patwon Ki Haveli, also known as the Mansion of Brocade Merchants, is a popular tourist site in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. Several windows and balconies with elaborate carvings can be seen from the tiny street it faces, and once inside, visitors will be able to witness the Haveli’s magnificence. It is a collection of five tiny havelis erected in the 19th century by a wealthy trader.

The haveli is also known as Kothari’s Patwa Haveli by locals. The five havelis were erected for the family, and the compound as a whole is the city’s largest residence. It still has a large number of antiquities and masonry that provide insight into the Patwa family’s regal existence. It is one of three Havelis in the city that are considered magnificent.

6. Tanot Mata Temple

The Tanot Mata Temple, located in the Tanot village of the district of Jaisalmer, is a popular tourist destination for tourists visiting Rajasthan’s Thar Desert. It is shrouded in a plethora of legends that are likely to inspire amazement and wonder at its spiritual strength and purity. Since the Indo-Pakistan conflict in 1971, the cultural monument has been safeguarded and maintained by India’s Border Security Force (BSF). She is thought to be a manifestation of Hinglaj Mata Goddess.

There are some places that have a lot of elegance but are rarely visited due of their surroundings. Tanot Mata temple is a hidden gem located in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer area, close to India’s border with Pakistan. It is well known for its representation in the Bollywood film Border, which is based on the 1971 Indo-Pakistan conflict. Despite the massive bombardment all around it, the temple stood firm, a reflection of its spiritual ethos and powers. This temple has an air that makes visitors feel as if they are in the presence of a holy deity who has protected Tanot to this day.
