Agadi Thota

Agadi Thota was created in 2000 by Shri. Jayadev Agadi is located in the lush green surroundings of Kannur village. Its goals are to promote organic farming, raise awareness of Indian culture, tradition, and natural organic food culture among city dwellers, and assist rural farmers in creating a market for organic foods.

Later in the year 2017, we began to sell a particular authentic North Karnataka ethnic food, a geographical indication of this region, as value addition and to produce additional income to make agriculture more self-sustaining.

A selection of seasonal naturally grown and ripened fruit cuts, a millet-based breakfast with natural lemon tea, ragi malt, tamarind chigali, sugarcane juice, and North Karnataka cuisine are all served throughout the day in unlimited numbers. Lunch, Buttermilk, Pan, Masala Girmit with Sev, and Mirchi in the evening, finishing with Tea or Coffee.

Shri. Jayadev Agadi is an innovative farmer who favors organic farming. Agadi Thota, a 40-acre farm that mainly cultivates cashew and areca nuts, adheres to the phrase “Go Organic, Go healthy” while upholding tradition and culture.

The farm comprises five aspects: farming, horticulture, agroforestry, raising livestock, value addition, rural agriculture, and lifestyle and eating customs. They provide tourists information on village living, culture, commerce, and healthy eating practices.

There are almost a thousand different endangered medicinal plant varieties grown. The farm converts every waste into input for the subsequent process that produces the finished good. In addition to maize, soybeans, and paddy cultivation, vegetables such as brinjal, tomato, beans, and coriander are grown.

For the past 13 years, the entire farm has been organically fertilized and controlled for pests with products like “Jeevamrut,” “Brahmastra,” “Panchagavva,” and others. Farm practices self-sustaining agriculture with all natural resources and achieves profitability.

The primary goal of Agadi Thota is to provide a whole day’s worth of unlimited ethnic North Karnataka meals. In addition, we offer our guests a complimentary self-experience of village life to educate them about our culture and customs. We serve infinite quantities of dishes throughout the day to promote our north Karnataka cuisine. Hence we do not permit ethnic cuisine. Our primary service is providing food; all other experiences are merely complimentary.

We are steadfastly committed to preserving nature, Indian culture, tradition, and values and encouraging healthy living through clean food, water, and air. Therefore, consuming alcohol, tobacco, non-vegetarian food, or aerated soft drinks in Thota is strictly forbidden.

In 2014, the Government of Karnataka honored Shri. Jayadev Agadi, with the highest accolade in horticulture and agriculture, the “Krishi Pandit” award, for his work in integrated multi-crop farming. The other honors include the “Shreshtha Krishika” by the University of Agriculture Science, Dharwad, the “Best Horticulture Farmer” award by the University of Horticulture Bagalkot, the “Innovative Farmer” award by UAS Dharwad, the “Krishi Ratna” award by the Karnataka Krishik Samaj and the “National Krishi Ratna award by the Bhartiya Krishik Samaj.

The farm’s perimeter surrounds the coconut, mango, cashew, areca, and other fruit trees. In addition to maize, soybeans, and paddy cultivation, more than 1000 medicinal plants and vegetables, including tomatoes, beans, coriander, and brinjal, are planted. The entire length of crops is organically fertilized with the fertilizers “Jeevamrut” and “Brahmastra.”

Sadhanakeri Park

Dr. Dattatreya Ramachandra Bendre, a famous Kannada poet, is honored in the park known as Sadhanakeri. Even the Kannada song “Baro Sadhanakerige” is lovely. This location is in Dharwad, roughly a 30-minute drive from Hubli. It is a large, beautiful park with well-kept lawns, statues, and other features. In the middle is a lake where you may go boating.
A park with a lake is called Sadhankeri. In the Kannada literature and culture world, this lake, located across from the late poet’s home in Sadhankeri Layout (South Dharwad), previously served as a source of inspiration for poet laureate Dr. Dattatreya Ramachandra Bendre. Karnataka is known as the science capital of India and has carved out a unique niche for itself in the fields of science, particularly IT and BT. It has taken a great initiative to create a significant number of science centers in the state to foster a scientific mindset, improve scientific understanding, spread a scientific culture, and benefit youngsters. The Dharwad Regional Science Centre is the first Science Center in this series. After being officially opened by the National Council of Science Museums, an independent agency under the Ministry of Culture of the Government of India, this Center will be turned over to the government of Karnataka for operation and maintenance.
The spotless Karnataka University Campus in Dharwad, where the Dharwad Regional Science Center is located, is surrounded by a beautiful natural setting and an intellectual atmosphere. This Center will be the perfect location to involve young and older people in the science center’s creative activities and instill a scientific mindset in all its visitors. The guests will have a fun-filled experience while learning about science.

The National Council of Science Museums, an independent agency under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, established the Dharwad Regional Science Centre with the active assistance of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of Karnataka. The Center is anticipated to serve a broad range of audiences, particularly in Northern Karnataka, with its year-round educational programs, Science Park, and permanent science displays. The capital expense of Rs. 850 lakh in constructing this Center was split equally between the governments of India and Karnataka. The Karnataka state government played a crucial role in helping to build this project by donating land for free inside the walls of Karnataka University, Dharwad.
