Thailand Approves New Regulation on Cannabis Possession

In a groundbreaking move, Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health is set to revise regulations concerning the possession of Cannabis. Under the new policy, possessing fewer than 10 cannabis flowers will no longer be considered a criminal offense, but rather an act of personal consumption that does not warrant imprisonment. This development comes as a significant step forward in the country’s ongoing efforts to support the legalization of cannabis and provide better access to its medical benefits.

The policy adjustment, announced by Minister of Public Health from Chiang Rai, Dr. Chalerm Nakhon, during a recent operational policy meeting, aims to differentiate between individuals who possess cannabis for personal use and those involved in trafficking and trading. Currently, a joint committee comprising the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) is working on the finalization and implementation
