According to the Siwagrha inscription, the original name of this temple is Siwagrha Temple, which in Sanskrit means Shiva’s House. This temple was built as an offering to the Trimurti, namely the 3 main Hindu gods, namely Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. But indeed Lord Shiva is preferred in this temple.

Scuba Diving 🤿

The USS Liberty Wreck is the most famous dive site in Bali. It is also one of the best sunken ship wrecks in the world! When I arrive in Bali, I absolutely have to dive here!

The liberty ship was hit by a Japanese torpedo then was beached near Tulamben. In 1963, the eruption of Mount Agung caused the vessel to slip off the beach, and it now lies on a sand slope in 9 to 30 m of water.

The wreck is about 130 m long with the shallowest part at about 5 m deep and the deepest on the other side of the wreck at about 30 m deep.

Rice Terraces 🌾

Tegallalang forms the 3 most splendid terraced landscapes in Ubud’s shared region, with the others being in the villages of Pejeng and Campuhan.

Pura Luhur Lempuyang 🛕

Obscurity aside, the temple of Pura Luhur Lempuyang is one of Bali’s most important religious places: it’s one of the six sad kahyangan (“temples of the world”) dedicated to Sang Hyang Widi Wasa (the supreme God), and it’s also one of the island’s nine directional temples that “protects” the native Balinese from evil spirits.

The temple presents an interesting challenge to visitors: reaching the top means conquering 1,700 steps cut into mountainside jungle, requiring about an hour and a half of serious climbing. Ordinary Balinese make their way up the stairs to ask for divine assistance with problems or request blessings from above.
