Lahore: During a special session chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, provisional approval was granted for distributing one-kilowatt (1KV) Solar Systems to 50,000 households across the province.

This significant decision addresses energy scarcity and alleviates the financial burden associated with conventional electricity consumption.

Implemented under the Roshan Punjab program, this initiative seeks to provide affordable and sustainable energy access to socioeconomically disadvantaged communities.

Key discussions during the session focused on the proposed Solar systems’ technical specifications, emphasizing essential components such as solar panels, batteries, inverters, and necessary wiring.

Each 1KV solar system is designed to power essential household appliances, including fans, lighting fixtures, and small motors, providing households with a reliable alternative to grid-based electricity sources.

The upcoming major project, set to begin soon, will involve installing 1KV solar systems in various households. This will serve as a test to evaluate their effectiveness and suitability for meeting domestic energy needs. Eligibility for participation is open to protected consumers whose electricity consumption does not exceed 100 units.
