Overall, the judge's ruling brings an end to the era of red-light cameras on Route 83 in Oakbrook Terrace. The decision is anticipated to alleviate the financial burden on motorists while encouraging safer driving practices in the community.

On May 26, DuPage County Judge Craig R. Belford, who allowed the cameras to be re-activated until the case was decided, ruled that IDOT did have the right to revoke the permit for the red light cameras on Oak Brook’s border.

Days later, on June 5, the same judge ruled denying Oakbrook Terrace’s request to have the order stayed.
