Ghorepani Poon Hill Family Trek – The best family trek in Nepal

Nepal, the Himalayan paradise offers the world’s best trekking destinations for everyone. Because there are different types of treks you can choose, easy to very hard, individual to family trek. Poon Hill is the best family trek because it offers an outstanding mountain view and stays in the lower elevation. So Ghorepani Poon Hill Family Trek is a short but the best short trek in Nepal for families. For the family, it’s a perfect hike to spend quality time together and give the best holiday adventure for the kids.

Poon Hill Family Trek commences with the touristic ways in Pokhara and Kathmandu. Especially in the Pokhara, walking around the lakeside, and eating delicious food before embarking on the journey. Enjoy a glimpse of the snowy peaks like the Machhapuchhare, and Annapurna ranges. And of course, lost in the beauty of the Phewa Lake and its surroundings. Exploring Kathmandu’s heritage sites before or after the trek will add to the cultural differences for your youngsters.

Drive to Pokhara from Kathmandu itself is an adventure, the reason behind it is the road and travel duration. Traveling on the bus will take around 8 to 9 hours and also can enjoy the views of the landscapes, villages, and many more. On the other hand, traveling on a plane just takes 30 minutes and offers an outstanding view of the snowy peaks, terrains, and many more.

Why Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is best for the family?

Altitude

The highest altitude of the Ghorepani Trek is just 3210m at Poon Hill and the highest place to sleep is 2880m. That is why it’s not a difficult trek in Nepal and everyone can do this excursion with their family.

Vistas

The views during this trek are another reasons to accomplish this trek with a household. During Ghorepani Poon Hill Family Trek can enjoy the stunning mighty snowy peak view. Such as Machhapuchhare, Dhaulagiri, Annapurna Range, and many more. The farming farmland, jungle, and landscapes are other views to take pleasure in during this trek.

Walking distance

The walking distance from one camp to another camp is no longer during this trip. Even though there are places to sleep between those targeted camps, the walking destination is another justification; it’s the best family trek in Nepal. Each day needs to walk for around 4 to 5 hours, except the day to walk Poon Hill early in the morning. This also can do in the afternoon time for a sunset view if the weather is clear.

Local culture & tradition

The most important part of traveling to any place is to know the local culture and tradition. In the region of Ghorepani Poon Hill Family Trek, Gurung and Magar people are living and they have a very unique culture and tradition. Not only that traveling will allow your child to understand the difference between their own and other’s culture.

Transportation accessibility

The other reason why the Ghorepani Ghandruk Trek is best for the family is the available roads. There is a road to Ghorepani, Ghandruk, and Banthanti, which is very good to have in case of any emergency. Traveling with family is always a challenging task to complete so having a road near every village is an adventure.

Best time to do Family Poon Hill Trek

Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is a kind of all-season trek but trekking with a baby can be very tricky. So choosing the best time is a foremost essential thing. Winter will be very cold, and summer will be rainy and humid. Therefore the best time to do Poon Hill Family Trek is the Spring season and Autumn seasons.

Spring season in Nepal March, April, and Mid May

Autumn season in Nepal September, October, and November

Choose any month during these two seasons for the best family trek experience. As well as to have the best mountain view, and surrounding atmosphere.

Require permit and documents

Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is one of the treks inside the Annapurna Conservation Area. Trekking inside this conservation area needs to have an ACAP permit and that permit is available in the ACAP office. When you travel with a baby and do organize treks then your trekking company will organize everything.

Also, need a TIMS Card (Trekking Information Management System Card) to do this trek. To have the permit you need to bring a passport photocopy and 2 passport-size photos.

I recently did this trek with an Indonesian family it was something completely new experience for me. Trekking with two years old baby girl and a first-timer dad, although mom was an experienced hiker. I found such a family trek is good to understand each other in the family and go deep into the relationship.
