An Introduction to Thompson San Antonio Hotel- Riverwalk

Address:115 Lexington Avenue, San Antonio, TX 78205

Thompson San Antonio- Riverwalk, a 5-star hotel in the heart of downtown San Antonio officially opened its doors in February 2021. The hotel joined Thompson Dallas as well as Thompson Houston as the Texas representatives of the Thompson Brand, which is a part of the World of Hyatt portfolio of properties.

Arts Residences

The hotel building also houses luxury condos known as the Arts Residences. The residents have access to the hotel amenities, including the pool, restaurants, as well as the fitness center. We noticed that this was a similar concept at the Thompson Dallas and Thompson Austin locations.

Our Hotel Suite at Thompson San Antonio

Our accommodation while at the hotel was a breathtakingly beautiful Skyline Suite. If stepping into a life of luxury was the goal, we had without a doubt met it!

The suite featured stunning contemporary furnishings and decor, a spa-inspired bathroom, a Pinterest-worthy standalone soaking tub, floor-to-ceiling windows, as well as a private terrace offering aerial views of the San Antonio skyline.

We had been thrust into a space of spectacular opulence that we were certainly excited to experience!

Our Skyline suite had no shortage of closets and storage space. For people like us who pack everything and the kitchen sink when traveling, this was definitely a welcome discovery.

Also available in the suite were a mini-bar, a workstation, two flat-screen televisions, a Bluetooth music system, complimentary internet service (wifi), as well as a host of other in-room amenities. Additionally, we had access to room service/ in-room dining.

Thompson San Antonio Restaurants and Bars

There are two on-site eateries — Landrace and The Moon’s Daughters.

Landrace Restaurant

Located on the ground floor of the hotel, Landrace is the hotel’s signature restaurant. Notable features include the bar, an open kitchen concept dining area, the general dining area, a private dining room, as well as outdoor terrace seating overlooking the San Antonio River walk.

Landrace Restaurant is open daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Reservations are not required but are recommended given how busy the restaurant can get.

We enjoyed a hearty American breakfast buffet and later returned for an equally delectable dinner.

The Moon’s Daughters

The Moon’s Daughters is located on the twentieth floor of the hotel and is inspired by the Greek goddess of the moon. It is a rooftop restaurant, sky bar, and lounge.

Imagine witnessing a San Antonio skyline sunset from the perfect vantage point. Well, that was our reality at the rooftop terrace. The yellow-orange glow of the exiting sun softly illuminating the skyline and later taken over by the nighttime city lights was definitely a sight for sore eyes!

The Moon’s Daughters features stunning indoor-outdoor spaces and is a particularly popular spot for happy hour and evening entertainment. There is a live DJ on Fridays and Saturdays, as well as a private VIP lounge area section. Note that the minimum age requirement for entrance is 21 years old.

Cenote Pool Deck

Located on the hotel’s fourth floor, the resort-style pool is without a doubt one of the best in the downtown San Antonio area! It features private luxury cabanas, a pool bar, and restaurant offering a variety of drinks and light bites.

We enjoyed the lobster sandwich, chips, and guac, in between dips in the pool.  Our cabana came complete with a television, refrigerator stocked with soft drinks, as well as ample lounging space.

Tip: If you would like to experience this Thompson pool or spa as a non-overnight guest, you can do so via Resort Pass.

The full-service spa is located on the third floor of the hotel, It has five treatment rooms, a sauna, a steam room, a relaxation area, and separate men’s and women’s lockers. Spa treatments include massages, body treatments, nail care, facials, hair blowouts, as well as waxing.

We enjoyed a couple’s massage in the dual therapy spa treatment room which offered stunning views of the San Antonio Riverwalk, courtesy of the floor-to-ceiling windows.

Also available is a boutique retail space where you can purchase spa products.
